Who are/were the greatest guitar players in the world?

Actually I got asked this question tonight by my 12 year old stepson! Now I list the following in not any particular order but just as they come to mind. Of course feel free to add to the list!

Brian May (of course)
George Harrison
Eric Clapton
Mark Knopfler
BB King
Chuck Berry
The dude from Guns n Roses (apologies to their fans that I don't know his name - hey he's good though)

How you could not mention Jimmy Hendrix is beyond me.

Also, Stevie Ray Vaughan.

Jimmy Page is also worth mentioning.

In my opinion the greatest guitarists in the world are (and in order).....


1) Brian May
2) Joe Satriani
3) Jimi Hendrix
4) Adrian Smith?
5) Steve Vai
6) Slash

Adrian Smith plays guitar in Iron Maiden. He's a great guitarist i think. His solo album A.S.A.P. is also great. You should maybe try to find the a.s.a.p. album. It's pretty good. It's very hard to find though as it's rare.

Nathan knows more about the a.s.a.p. album so you'll have to ask him about that. You might like some Iron Maiden. If you're gonna try them out start with the Greatest Hits Album, Edward the great. That has alot of good tracks on.

Note: Iron Maiden are a heavy metal band.
