Do you know anything about the reasons Freddie had a nick name after the Greek actress Mellina Mercury? She was over the top and had a mysterius female to male attitude and charm, so i can see the obvious connection. But do you know anything more specific on this one?

I am not talking about the Mercury, which indeed is after the Greek god. I am talking about his nick -name Melina.He used it among his friends. Dont you know?
Freddie was known to give his male friends (and himself) humorous female nicknames consisting of famous people who shared their surnames (or nearly) like:

John = Bolisha (as in Beacon) etc etc

I read a thing that was written by someone who was there when he was given that nickname. Elton John said that Freddie's nickname should be Melina and Freddie was speechless and the other guy who was there apparently didn't know whether to laugh or cry. I always wondered what the significance of this name was.
