First Impressions on Queen.

Just woundering what was everyone's first impressions on Queen. When I first saw the Bohemian Rhapsody video in 1991, I thought, as a five-year-old, they were the weirdest group of people I've seen on TV at the time. What was your first impressions?

When I saw the video of Bo-Rap I became an instant fan. The song was so original and different.

The first song I heard was Bohemian Rhapsody,and oh my,I was impressed by their voices,by FM's voice.

When I was in elementary school back in the 80s, I always wondered how come every single rock star of those days had long big hair, while Freddie was the only one who had a moustache.

When I was 9 years old, my dad got this cd-box containing 3 classical arrangements from some kind of orchestra from three groups: the beatles, Queen and Abba I think. 1 group per CD. I really wasn't interested in music at that age actually, but for some sort of reason the Queen-cd got my direct attention. Can't explain it, it just did. So I went to the library (which I never did before) and got me a real album of them: AKOM. I was sold!! I can go on a little while about what happened next but I think it needs no explanation...

I think the first Queen song I heard was Another One Bites, I remember listening to it in some film or tv show when I was about five. But I didn`t know it was Queen. Same for Rockyou or Champions

I knew that there was a band called Queen, in fact my father had News Of The World on LP. When I listened Bo Rhap for the first time it didn`t surprise me, all my life I`d listen to music "like that" (in the matter of dramatic changes and complex harmonies) so I found it normal. In fact I had the "happy" thought that all music was like that

It didn`t change the fact I loved Bo Rhap from day one. I remember thinking it`d fit very well in Jesus Christ Superstar. Then I listened to Don`t Stop Me and like it even more. Some months later I bought ANATO one afternoon I went for totty without success, long story... then Jazz and then Races. Then (I confess) I downloaded the rest via www or copied it from relatives.

I wasn't really old enough to have a first impression on Queen, since I have been listening to Queen as long as I remember. It's kind of like what Joe Satriani said- I have been listening to Queen ever since I was a baby, with the exception of Queen videos- my parents didn't have any.

My first impression, in the mid-70s, was that they were so much better than KISS.

well when i saw freddie in the bo rhap video at age 10 my first impression was why the heck is he wearing nail polish? and wat the heck is he wearing, is he trying desperatly to look like a girl? that was when i had no interest in older ppl looking outragous. my mom got the greatest hits video at an blockbuster then, i was so anxious to see wat she brought home...that i watched it for hours.

I was intrigued when I first heard them, back in 1991. Then, when I became a fan, I wondered why they covered Elvis's 'Crazy Little Thing Called Love'.

Yes, I was young and naive at one point.

My impression.. "oh god not them again!" but then i fell in love so it worked out allright.

Well, when I was about 6 or 7, I was in the car and was listening to the radio. And it started playing Radio GaGa. But in the Radio GaGa, Radio BlaBla part, it was really loud. So, my sister thought the lyrics where funny, and sang them really loud just to bother me. So then, I thought, that is a really weird band,because those are really strange lyrics.



P.S. That was BEFORE I really knew that Queen played that song. Know, I know and love Queen, and I laugh at this incident, because I love the song RadioGaGa.

My brother played bicycle race for me when i was 13 and for some god awful reason into boy bands. I heard the song and all i could think was damn there good. After that for about a year or so all i would listen to was queen.
