Didn't Roger say not to long ago while on a promo tour for the musical that "No Johns not involved anymore and that he just sits at home and collects the checks".And something else to the fact that "Yeah but he likes the money hes making". Now these arent the actual quotes but it was something to that effect. I'm sure some of you remember reading this. So I do think Roger is a little more scarcastic about the situation then Brian is. And perhaps not as understanding about Johns decision. What do you think?

I remember that but I just took it as a flippant remark mean't in humour rather than anything nasty!

An off the cuff remark not to be taken seriously. Opinions are definitely like arseholes.. everyone's got one! C'est la vie!

I thought every show by every band was a greatest hits show. I have yet to see or hear of a band or singer that did a show of completely new stuff.

But I do agree with the rest of what you say, Benn.

Beautiful, he has such eloquency with his words. And he's always so diplomatic about things.

Well, not really, if they have new material to promote.

For all it's faults, The Magic Tour debuted:

One Vision
A Kind Of Magic
Who Wants To Live Forever
Friends Will Be Friends

However, *surely* it would have been better to have ditched LOML for One Year Of Love (a French single release) and get rid of something equally as tired as Radio Ga Ga or IWTBF for Princes Of The Universe - well, that would have been my ideal anyhow.

But if you go further back, the ADATR, ANATO and NOTW features MOSTLY new material.

I'd have thought it more beneficial and *rewardig* for Brian, Roger and ESPECIALLY Paul to have waited until they had created something new and then tour with it, slipping in the standard Queen material as and when. It's going to be difficult enough for Paul as it is, but having something that's new and has hin stamped all over it and THEN getting the adulation he so richly deserves would be all the more rewarding.

Glad you didn't help with the setlists... 'One Year of Love' must be one of the worst songs Queen ever recorded.

"It's going to be difficult enough for Paul as it is"

If that's going to be the case, it's only because of some narrow-minded people who really believe Freddie is a god.

There are a lot of people who think Paul Rodgers is a better, more professional singer than Mercury.

Maybe it's also going to be difficult for Brian and Roger to play Rodger's songs? To match his standards? After all, he is the one who has been touring constantly, while the two Queenies will have to work hard to shape up.

Besides, everybody exptects Brian and Roger to be as good as they once were - maybe they are, but the point is, they are the ones who are under pressure, not Rodgers, he has nothing to lose.

I've been a Free fan for years and do believe that he was a better, moire versatile vocalist than Freddie was.

I just hope that the arrangements of the Queen tracks they play are conducive to HIS style.

As for helping with the set lists, yes, I did and no, One Year Of Love wasn't one of my suggestions. My point about that was, if you read a little closer, the song was a single in a major European territory and it wasn't promoted on stage which seems like a lost opportunity.

Why do you always assume that no-one is reading your posts, before replying? I did read it (as close as necessary), and understood the fact that it was a single in France (although I don't understand why it was, but that's another story), but I still think it's one of the worst songs in Queen's catalogue, and I am glad that they didn't "ditch" 'Love of My Life' for that song.
