Now, I was brought up to always tell the truth, no matter what. "If you stick to the truth" says gaffer "folk that count will stick with you".
I've been tempted plenty of times though. I remember at school having a terrible time with some bullies, I used to have real problems controlling my bladder. I was only young, about 15 or 16. well, I was first in school as usual, sat in an empty classroom, and I was fretting about not having finished Biffer's homework when I felt my waterworks about to burst. I made it as far as the desk near the door, which was Biffer's, just my luck, and I could go no further, out it came in great spurts all over his desk and chair.
I quickly changed into my spare pants, I used to take 3 or 4 pairs for just such emergencies, and mopped up what I could with my used pair. I sat back down at my own desk as if nothing had happened when the rest of the pupils started filing in. Biffer didn't know things were amiss until he sat in my puddle, and he jumped up with a great cry, much to the amusement of the rest of the class, who chanted "Biffer's a baby! Biffer's a baby!" They never were an original lot.
Well, I know I should have sat still and let Biffer get his, after all he made every single school day a living hell for me - setting me on fire, things like that. But I came clean and admitted the green pool was my responsibility. "From 15 feet away?" questioned Teacher, so I related the full story.
I took a dreadful beating at break time later for that and Biffer was waiting for me after school, charging me twenty five pounds for his soiled uniform, and issuing an extra pummelling for forgetting his homework.
So is it sometimes better to lie than face the truth? When did you last tell a fib?

I try not to tell lies. It can be tempting at times. When I was little (around 7-9) I used to tattle on MYSELF for lying or swearing. The guilt would kill me inside.

I'm on the staff of my school's literary magazine. We have had several submissions, and most of them are pretty good, but a select few thankful rarities are complete and utter crap. But we can't tell them that. Gotta turn it down in a way that softens the blow.
