Freddie had one of the highest pitched voiced Iv ever heard, The show must go on just shows that. He is brilliant. As for Elvis well he had an incredible voice aswell, an excellent range and power aswell, Elvis originally wanted to be in a gospal harmony group back in the early 50's as a bass singer.

Yes ! it's possible to be NOW sound like freddie... if Queen play with George Michael, Elthon Jon, Gary Cherone, Paul Rodgers, Robin Williams,Tom Jons, Pavarotti and Franco de Vita at the same stage... with all this people together we have a ONE Freddie Mercury !
I agree that Freddie Mercury was the greatest singer ever. His voice was simply amazing. And not just because of the power or range. That has something to do with it of course, but many people can learn to sing with great power etc, however, listening to Freddie's voice seems to create a special feeling that no other can. He must have had a special way. Like he was sub-human or something.
I think Elvis had a similar way. I wouldn't go as far as comparing him to Freddie, but there was definitely something special about Elvis's voice. He also had a knack of creating a feeling. I much prefer Elvis's voice in his earlier songs though. He has more power then. At the back end he tended to do slow dodgy ballads with a low pitch. Just didn't sound the same really (not to me anyway).
Ooh, and as for people sounding like Freddie, I don't think that could ever be humanly possible. I can notice an ever so slight similarity with George Michael when I listen to some of the Wham songs. He sounds a little bit like Freddie did in the early part of his career. Only a little bit, mind!

Id say George Michael in his wham days you can hear what sounds like a young Freddie.
I too have seen and heard this guy Gregory Finsley sing and play piano. He's FANtastic! All those musicians with "Queen for a Day" are great

I too have been blessed with the magical voice of Gregory Finsley....Never thought that I would hear anyone so close to Freddie, well I was blown away....Never missed a pitch and the best performance I have seen in a really long time. Cheerio ! :)

He may not have sounded like Freddie but Joe Elliott could really sing plus his voice sounded great live - whadda legend. Definately the best frontman in the world and a damn fine entertainer.
I don't agree that Joe Elliot is even anywhere close to Freddie. Joe is a great frontman, for one of the best rock bands out there, but, and he would be the first to admit this, he doesn't have the rage, versitillity or power that Freddie had. Joe only sang because he couldn't get into a band as a guitarist or drummer! (And yes I am a Lep fan too)
As for who reminds me of Freddie it would be Jeff Scott Soto. He doesn't sound that close but he has a similar range and power and brings true emotion and depth to the songs he sings. He is also as versitile as Freddie if not more so.

To me, it's George Michael.ten to his renedition of Somebody To Love at the Freddie memorial show and he sings it as he is Freddie. Wounderful.
George was superb on that night, and no-one could have done it better, but I don't know if he could handle the rockier songs, and I guess with his announcement that he is retiring from performing we never will. Gary Cherone was also superb on that day as was Roger Daltry. I have also heard James LaBrie do a great job of Tie Your Mother Down live

Are you crazy? George acted like a idiot - you could tell he was trying to audition for the place of Freddie which was horrible considering it was supposed to be a tribute when all George could do was think of himself. There rant over!
