you can always tell whos songs r whos, i new johns other song without reading who wrote it. and u can definetly tell rogers,in my opinion the worst songwriter in queen. and brians and freddies are sort of the same because they do each others genres.
i still can't stand the synth sound on PLAY THE GAME nad ROCK IT- sounds corny...
Love SASS and DRAGON ATTACK- my two favourites from this album.

A good album "the game" loads of good singles on there but a big departure from the old stuff as synths were brought in and also mack co-produced the album and wanted to use a basic live feel to the album.
I can remember buying this album way back in 87 when i was about 13years old and thought it was great having heard anato as my first album and being very impressed with dragon attack.
Hard to believe the game is almost 25 YEARS OLD.

Roger, to me, writes about 'you'd better shape up or ship out'/general angst' type of songs. Sheer Heart Attack ('well you're just 17, all you wanna do is disappear), Fight From the Inside (You're just another picture on a teenage wall, you're just another sucker ready for a fall) and probably others I can't really think of/don't exist at the moment.
the game is a great album, one of their best. the synths were perpect at that particular time. i think the no synth label ran it's course and it was time for something new, and remember, the synth sound was 'rogers' idea. some would think 'john' or freddie would have wanted to change to pop, but it was roger. so many classics, 'play the game' was perfect, 'dragon attack' great, actually the only average song on the album is 'comming soon' was my least fav, but still decent.
Good album. Fans of the Queen 70s sounds and fans of the 80s sounds can find something to their tastes.
I sometimes enjoy listening to The Game but I don't like synth sounds of it...
Especially NYLT is one of my favorites of the songs written by John and it seems John's songs always proved Freddie's other vocal skills.
Besides, also CLTCL, DA(chorus is effective) and Save Me are my favorites from that album.

Did you check inside or just the outside? Cos the inside booklet of my cd shows who wrote each of the songs.
nah im surprised cause it doesnt say who wrote what or who played what on each song
In 1982 I got two albums for my birthday:
News Of The World and The Game.
They are still my fav. albums.
Often when I listen to the CD's I recall my recordplayer in my bedroom.
Didn't know much English (12 years old), but read the lyrics a few hundred times...

It's a good album, although I think it's very noticeable that the best songs on it are the ones that were recorded at the same time, i.e the ones on GHI, i.e. Play The Game, AOBTD, Save Me, and Crazy Little Thing. The others are ok, but display an all too obvious leaning towards the mediocrity of Hot Space for my liking. Except Sail Away Sweet Sister, that's brilliant.
I think it is/was earsilly their best album. Did Roger sing on both the songs he penned?
Freddie sung intro to Rock It and share vocals with Roger on Coming Soon.
