Freddie Tribute Concert

I have both the VHS and DVD of the concert.

I had a suspicion there were 'missing performances' when I saw Billy Squier, Bob Geldof,and others at the end of the show during "We Are The Champions."

Billy Squier didn't play on this show.
Bob sung a song that he wrote with Freddie as he said.

Scorpions were there in case Axl and co pulled the plug on their set apparently. I didn't realise CT was to sing 'Breakthru'! That yould have been interesting, and RMT singing AKOM would have been worthwhile also.

They gave up those songs because of timing reasons (in this case, Spinal Tap's set was really a mistake) - and those were two songs by Roger, whereas Brian had the lion's share in the set (60% or so)...
The performances I really miss from this concert are "More Than Words" and "Love Of My Life" by Extreme: I don't understand why they didn't put it on the video.
Bob Geldof's song "Too Late God" can be found on one of his albums. Curiously, it's penned "Bob Geldof/Karl Hyde". I sincerely doubt Freddie had anything to do with it - strangely enough, one of the Chemical Brothers' name is Karl Hyde...

This is not the complete set: you forgot both "Love Of My Life" and "More Than Words" by Extreme and I clearly remember Def Leppard played "Let's Get Rocked" and "Animal". I think it was their first live performance after the release of the "Adrenalize" album - and the first time ever Vivian Campbell played guitar with them on stage, of course.

I thought Spinal Tap did alright, they sounded fun.

Most of Extremes set was a Medley of Queen songs, which is on the Video.

At least Liz Taylor's speech is on the end so you don't have to watch it!

I respect your opinion. in mine, in it was crass, inappropriate, and from a man of his intellect and standing quite vomitous.

oh, and aids has to be stopped by use of condoms, not sharing needles and research into retrovirals and other ways of holding it at bay.

What I mind is a bitch like Liz Taylor making a stupid speech. Kudos for the guy who told her to get off.

Brian didn't like Bowie's praying at all and so didn't I. In an interview, he said something like "he could have asked my opinion before"...

Is that true about Brian not feeling okay about the prayer? I always wondered about that. On the video you can see Roger's face when Bowie is kneeling down. Would LOOOOVE to read his thoughts right there...

What surprises me is that, on the Queen HUB, even though there is the odd person with unreleased performances (recorded on VHS obviously) that they might have shared (eg. Innuendo, which I recently downloaded this week as an MPEG file), no-one seems to have the whole complete show available for download, virtually uncut (either that, or I'm browsing the wrong people's folders)

Even at that though, I think something like that would be best shared thru a "DVD bootleg tree", similar to of that a few of us suggested for sharing rare Queen videos, where some people, once a master is made, make copies onto DVD-R discs, and send it out to people for free, who then share it with people they know, etc. etc.
