I've not heard any other attempt to combine gospel and opera. I think the entire album is Freddie at his peak (as far as a solo career).

I downloaded a great early version of it with who I'm pretty sure is Freddie singing the opera singer's parts in falsetto. Quite cool to listen to.

I wonder if he wasn't somewhat tongue-in-cheek talking about himself, though with some detail changes.

Barcalone is by far Fred's greatest solo effort, and the tracks Barcelona and Golden Boy are one of his best works, his Queen songs included..

Not a lot of songs with such a complete story, and random yet totally brilliant gospel choir in the middle!!

One of my favourites. Having said that, if you ask me, the entire barcelona album is unbridled genius.
