It is just me, or is it REALLY hard to dislike any song be John Deacon? I love EVERY ONE of them! What are some of your favourites?

Spread Your Wings is my ultimate fav. Deaky song.
He just has this beautiful way with words.. and honestly.. i am just completely in love with it.
And judging by some songs, i'd say he was a romantic kinda guy. How sweet.. but ALL those songs can't be about his wife can they? Like all the love songs. I know "You're my best friend" was but what about the 7 days song or "you and i"?? .. maybe he had a mystery lover tucked away somewhere in that little past of his.
how gorgeous.

He's my faveorite too. His songs are very likable and it is obvious that he works very hard on every one of them!
My faveorites are Spread Your Wings, I want to Break Free, and Who Needs You

Misfire, You and I and Another One Bites the Dust
are really good too
He is a better songwriter than Roger Taylor (except Radio Ga Ga).

and foxxy_moron.... please stop interpreting things into John Deacon`s songs. That`s just plain ridiculous. Not every man has another girlfriend beside his wife, you know! Its the same shit like always posting: He is well and enjoying his retirement... How on earth do you all know what he really enjoys and what he thinks!!!!

Leave the man alone!
I on the other hand prefer Roger to John- nothing that John wrote matches THESE ARE THE DAYS OF OUR LIVES or BREAKTHRU... Apart from Spread Your Wings- that's a real masterpiece!!! And maybe YOU AND I- that's a very overlooked song. I agree- his songs are likable, but... nothing special, really... Just my opinion...
PS
Well- let's not forget AOBTD- not my fav but it bloody worked!!!

In Only Seven Days is also a masterpiece.
I got to try al little more, because I'm an asshole but I'm learning. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NfTLkUcQ7QY
Another One Bites The Dust and I Want To Break Free would fave to be the best ones by miles closely followed by You're My Best Friend though.

Totally agree, as for Who Needs You - ouch, never liked it. As much as I love our John, Who Needs You was a bad song IMHO.
Chom own mudder fukker.
so peter your saying a kind of magic, breakthru, days of our lives are all crap?

He wrote not many songs. Not as many as Brian and Freddie and Roger. But every song he wrote is good. The other tree wrote some great songs but they also wrote bad songs.
I think my favorite Deaky's songs are: You And I, I Want To Break Free, Who Needs You, Misfire and You're My Best Friend.

Well there is one song that I don't like. And that's Spread Your Wings. But I don't hate it. I just don't like it.

The thing about these songs that I like is that they are all kinda fun and not heavy, just fun and happy songs. The lyrics may be about not happy things but his songs become happy.
That's what I love about them. I love happy songs :D
I like John's songs, but the lyrics are almost always corny, awkward and bland, like the kind of thing you get when you try songwriting for the first time.
I agree with you. The song is better than the lyric ;)

No, I certainly didn`t say that!!! I think all four members have written good stuff and there are four or five Roger Taylor songs I admire very much: They are Breakthru, A Kind Of Magic, Ride The Wild Wind, Days Of Our Lives and Radio Ga Ga (my favourite Queen song!). Maybe also Action This Day.

Roger really started to write good songs in the 80s, but before most of his songs are very mediocre or pure crap (Fun It, Coming Soon, More Of That Jazz... ugh). Deaky however wrote very good songs from the beginning and his output is more constant in quality than Roger`s. He had already three singles before Roger even had one (and that was only in the US). There is no John Deacon song I really dislike (even his first song "Misfire" is quite good), while many of Roger`s tracks from the 70s and some by Brian are very average and at times outright boring.

Love 'em all. Plain and simple.
