Depends what you mean by "properly". Differently doesn`t always mean "wrong"
well for example "somebody to love" at the tribute concert. the piano introduction and the whole of the piano playing in that song sounds like it has had no thought put into it.it is just chords. spike plays it properly in the rehearsals so i wonder why the didnt let him play it. this might of been posted before but im not sure.
also, who thinks elton johns bohemian rhapsody playing was a bit disappointing?

there's hardly ever been a cover version done of ANY song anywhere that is better than the original
the one reason for this is that the original composer knows how they wanted it to sound and (more importantly) feel - so this is a pointless argument
if all you can do is pick fault in artists performing THEIR tribute the a fellow (dead) artist then -
you really should get out more

i wouldn't call the songs at the tribute "cover" versions per se cuz once u call it a cover version then it's a completely new argument about which is better. it's a tribute so it should be measured in a different way
the somebody to love thing isn't bad though...it'd just be BETTER if the piano part could've been played the original way. BoRhap, on the other hand, is another story...
I know what you mean.
Everything sounds 'programmed'.
As for Elton - very disappointing.
All I have to say is, without sounding big headed,
if I can play it, certainly Elton John
could have played it.
This is not a criticism (other than EJ), but rather
a calling out of the complete lack of feeling put into Freddie's piano parts.
Perhaps there will be more passion during the tour?

No one plays like freddie, if that's what you mean. It's quite distinct, his style, but you get a nice look in the BoRhap video!
Well Elton John is a tit. He played chords then as soon as he got up Spike took over and played it properly. STL: Mike Moran wanted to pay his respects as a friend & I guess that's just what he learned to dplay.
good points.i reckon there will be lots of passion in the new tour coz spike will be playing! we can always count on him to serve up the goods.
agree with the elton john comments too

He didn't to the 'cross-over with the hands'. I don't he think he sang it well either. So I totally agree with you.
Plus Brian is a great piano player. First instrument he played.
didn't know he played piano, i thought that was roger. does spike do the crossover hands thingy.
I didn't know Roger played the piano. I know he played the guitar with The Cross, as well as singing for them. John can play the electric piano (as demonstrated in You're My Best Friend).
I don't know if Spike can do the cross over thing. I think that was him doing it in the We Will Rock You musical. If he can do it, I doubt he can do it as good as Freddie can.
