I thought about posting this in the Queen section, but since it's more personal than Queen, this is better.

I've recently found out that a friend and crush of mine sort of likes Queen. He has Bo Rhap and Under Pressure on a mix cd. We sang the former together and I told him in the middle how I've seen ballet done to it and that Freddie was doing the ballet, he replied "Awesome." Of Under Pressure, he says it's a great coming together of Queen and David Bowie.
Also, while watching Vh1's "My Coolest Years" the episode about jocks, We Are The Champions was played (we're talking clips from the video here) and he immediately slings his arm up and for the few seconds it was on really gets into singing along. :D I do the same cause well duh, :P.

Long story short, I'm wanting to make this friend/crush a Queen mix cd. He's a big fan of The Eagles and Beatles, Pink Floyd, he somewhat rocks out to the Darkness, and some Allman Brothers.
Based on these facts, what songs would you fine people reccommend for me to put on his cd?
Thanks in advance! :)

Well, based on the list of his musical tastes, it seems like he prefers 60s/70s music. So maybe including quite a few of their earlier work would be a good idea. I'd certainly include songs from the 74-78 era. :^)

Pink Floyd- Wish You Were Here (gotta love that song)
The Darkness- I believe in a thing called love

I don't know if I helped you at all, but there you go

he has GREAT taste in music.Congratulations.

From Eagles if he has not the Hell freezzes over cd/dvd you can put on the mix the acoustic version of hotel CAlifornia. It's wonderful. From Pink Floyd...hum....Have a Cigar played by Brian May and Foo fighters ;)
Anything too stupid to be said... is sung.

He does indeed have great taste. I agree with Mex (I just bought WIsh you were here the album) and Hitman and I suggest
Shine On You Crazy Diamond
-Pink Floyd
Time
-Pink Floyd
I'm really in love with Rubber Soul right now - you might want to include Girl, Norwegian Wood, or something all of course by the Beatles. Hope you win his heart! :)

PS Love is only a feeling
- since we're on the topic of the Darkness - is a great song!

I'm actually asking for help in terms of which Queen songs to put on the cd.

Thanks for all the other musical suggestions but he for sure already has them, I've seen his collection.

Well I have the cd list ready.
Took me about two hours to pick songs that would relate to his rocker side and his Beatles fan inside and stuff I know about him based on hanging out with him. I also included the 3 songs I know he likes in the beginning to show him hey I know what you've liked singing before. ;)
So thoughts on this list are appreciated:

Bohemian Rhapsody
We Are The Champions
Under Pressure
The Fairy Feller's Master Stroke
The March of the Black Queen
Brighton Rock
Sheer Heart Attack
I'm in Love With My Car
Tie Your Mother Down
Long Away
Millionaire's Waltz
Somebody to Love
Bicycle Race
Let Me Entertain You
Play The Game
Crazy Little Thing Called Love
I Want to Break Free
I'm Going Slightly Mad
Headlong

I also tried not to put a lot of greatest hits and well known stuff in there.

My personal opinion is:

I wouldn't put either of the songs from Queen II on it.

Brighton Rock is awsome. Tie Your Mother Down is always good. Somebody To Love,Bicycle Race,Play The Game,I'm Going Slightly Mad and Headlong.

Sorry, that's all the help that I am good for.

Why do you think the Queen II songs aren't good?
Just curious

For most people, Queen II songs are a bit hard to get into at first. I know with me, it took awhile for me to warm up to the album. I mean, if you're just used to listening to songs like Under Pressure or We Will Rock You, it's kind of a shock to hear these songs about fairies and ogres.

Anyway, that's great that your crush likes Queen! It took me forever to get my boyfriend to like anything, but now he says he likes You're My Best Friend and Bicycle Race. :)
Resistance is futile. You are now an orb.
C
That's a good point about how the ogres and faires are hard to take if you just know stuff like WWRY and Pressure. However, this guy is a fan of Lord of the Rings, (somewhat I think from stuff I've heard him say), Halo/Halo 2 and loads of sci-fi stuff so I'm thinking maybe they'll go over okay. What two alterantives do you suggest then?

I guess my favorite from Queen II is Seven Seas Of Rhye. I do like that album more now than I did at first, but it's still not one of my favorites.
