Starship actually started out in the mid '60's as Jefferson Airplane (best known song probably the trippy 'White Rabbit'). They then updated their name to Jefferson Starship (recording one of my all time favourite singles 'Jane', just love that guitar break). Finally they dropped the Jefferson altogether to be plain Starship, wherupon they had some of their biggest hits in the early '80's (Nothin's Gonna Stop Us Now, We Built This City etc).
Anyway, some of my faves, Wishbone Ash, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Thin Lizzy, Chris De Burgh (pre Lady In Red), Judas Priest, early ZZ Top, Robert Cray, Motorhead, and loads more I can't even think of.
