Thank you to Oliver for posting this final photo at Freddie's Funeral.

I never saw any press coverage but I did hear several press announcements of Freddie's passing, and I cried on the spot. It was around Thanksgiving weekend here in the USA 1991. I remember thinking, this is NOT a happy Thanksgiving at all.
I remember that week NBC's Friday Night Videos Premeiered "The Show Must Go On" and I cried again and I NEVER forgot the song and the video and how fitting it was for Freddie (with thanks to Brian for writing it).
I want to say, that though this photo is very sad, it also gives me a little closure. It's nice to see that last day, the funeral procession motorcade, all of those people paying their respects and such.
And I know Freddie would have liked all of the flowers, and the yellow flowers especially.
Thanks again Oliver...tears...

It's sad just because you know Freddie's inside... but how do you know he really was there? I mean, Freddie is inmoratl, you know... Nobody has ever been able to stop him, and death is no exception. So, nothing can make me sad, because he's still alive for me. Of course there' won't be any new albums, or new concerts, or new interviews with him, but, as I didn't know him personally, he's still alive for me.
*sniffs* indeed, he is alive forever in us...
You could believe that when you die, your spirit leaves you. Therefore Freddie's dead body is in the car, not him. Freddie spirit is still alive in us, and his music.
...so sad...still tears come to my eyes alot...
He will be alive in us forever, we'll always feel his spirit.

I agree it's all very sad. I also agree though that, since I didn't know him personally, he is still alive for me too. Since I believe in spirits and stuff, and I think I can actually perceive his presence, somehow for me he's alive now more than ever. His terrible disease was heartbreaking; the years he spent suffering, the physical pain and the anguish...this makes me cry. Not his death, because I believe that his death was a liberation for him.

I saw a clip of the coffin being carried into a big building once on a documentry and Elton John and Freddies parents were near. It's very very sad. At least he got the sort of funeral he would have wanted.

errrm, i don't think he did!
for a start - it was probably about 20 years earlier than he would've wanted
and secondly - the indignity of how the bodies of AIDS deaths were "treated" to maintain sterility was hardly what anyone would want for themselves
