(Re-)discovering old classic pop/rock songs...

Well, I just have to say something here. It's a bit unusual for me to post these kind of topics, but here I go.

I was looking on eBay for Eminem's album "Encore" on vinyl LP (and yes, I did find a copy cheap), and I saw an auction for the single that Eminem's "Like Toy Soldiers" sampled, called "Toy Soldiers" by Martika.

Of course, since I liked the chorus of "Like Toy Soldiers", I just HAD to download it! So I did, and I must say, I'm really addicted to this song (which is ironic, because this is a song about drugs). Honestly, I can't get enough of it. Now I've got Martika's best of compilation CD also ordered on eBay now.

My question for you guys is: how many of you guys have started listening to certain popular songs from the 1980's and onwards, recently, and find that you really like these songs?

I don't like rap,or Emminem,but I like the song Rich Girl. I don't like Gwen Stefani as mush as Queen though.

I've started liking The Smashing Pumpkins. I've had their greatest hits album but never listened to it for awhile, but I just picked it up one day and realized that I like them a lot! So I bought Siamese Dream and I loved it on first listen, and now I've been hunting down everything else from them. I've also been downloading a bunch of eighties songs - Come On Eileen by Dexy's Midnight Runners, Enjoy The Silence by Depeche Mode, Take On Me by A-Ha, etc. They're great in an incredibly cheesy way. :)

I like "Take On Me" by A-Ha too. I've had that song for years

I played pool once with the guys( and 1 chick, the ever sexy bass player) from Smashing pumpkins back in 94 in Chicago, a Friend took me up to Chi land for a weekend of clubs, I never knew who they were, told me later about them.
Yes I love so many Mega hits from the 80's, Starship, Cory Hart, Billy Idol and more, and Ace of Base from the 90's, My Napster is filled with'em.

I blindly stumbled my way through the 80's because my head was firmly stuck up the arse of 70's rock.

Isn't classic and 80's an oxymoron. Although I do like that cheesey Take Me On. Nena is a guilty pleasure too.

... yes I'm mostly stuck in the seventies (minus the Brady Bunch fashion of course).

I feel really old now because the 80's was really my decade for getting into music. The 80's cannot be simply dismissed for being crap when they produced the Smiths.

Whenever I hear 80's music, I think of playing Barbies and my teenage sister locking me out of her room..

I'm afraid that the 80s were filled with Madonna, Michael Jackson, Cyndi Lauper, Prince, and Wham!

But I fondly remember hearing Hall and Oates, Billy Joel, Ozzy, Journey, etc blaring from my older brother's room.

I wish I could go back to the 80s!!!!!

For those who actually grew up 80s it's more a matter of remembering and in some cases re-discovering old songs that they had forgotten.

I for once was able to discover old school R&B, Funk and Soul from the 60s, 70s, and 80s. I found it to be a fascinating genre especially coming from Motown artists like Stevie Wonder.

Don't switch the blade on the guy in shades, oh no.
