What's Roger's Songwriting Process?

Roger is my 2nd favorite songwriter next to Freddie.

He really matured and evolved as a wonderful writer when you think how he went from "I'm In Love With My Car" to "Radio Ga Ga", to "A Kind Of Magic" to "These Are The Days Of Our Lives"

Does anybody know what instrument(s) and method he uses for composing both music and lyrics to his songs? What inspires him, etc.

"Mack described him as Freddie`s opposite pole. He was very intuitive. The result is that his songs were much simpler, but on the other hand they were very fresh, and for some people - including me - they are more likeable. Mercury`s participation was big in the songwriting, arrangements and production of Roger`s tracks in the eighties (.e.g A Kind Of Magic), but he knew how to respect Taylor`s original concept. Roger`s songs usually have very few chords, mostly major, but one or two of them aren`t diatonic (a David Bowie influence). He admittedly hated key changes, so many of his tracks have no modulation. roger is a great somgwriter, his politically, socially and even romantic lyrics always have that hard edge, in the studio his voice is crisp and cynical as fuck! i love it and the way he delivers a vocal, great! "it was such an operation"! "i get to eat her dust" "dont have to listen to no run of the mill talk jive" "she was a wicked and willey waitress..... now shes rich and im flat bust"! and of course the adlib, "whil you are imagining.............."
