Wow. You people need some serious perspective.

I'm a vegan and all for AR, but even I find PETA's tactics a bit much too. And their "science" in regards to nutrition is quite biased and not very thorough. However, in terms of hard-hitting undercover footage exposing animal abuse, no one else has come close (to my knowledge, anyway) to reaching them. Hence my reasoning for referencing their site

Anyway... to For taylorgaga and Linda of the Valley and anyone who really have genuine concern for the welfare of animals, there IS something you can do. If you're already doing these things, you can save hundreds of lives in your own lifetime. If you don't, just like Arene said, if you're buying cruelty in the form of fur or meat, you might as well be the one with the club/knife/gun in your hand.

These should be rather obvious, but based on the hypocrisy of people I observe every single day, perhaps they aren't as obvious as they appear to me. If you care about animals:

1. Don't eat them.
2. Don't wear their skin (this includes leather)
3. Adopt animals from your local animal shelter/city pound if you can, and make a good home for them. Never buy from a breeder or pet shop, unless they are selling animals on behalf of the animal shelter.
4. Don't buy cosmetics tested on animals.
5. Like taylorgaga suggested, petitions can help raise awareness of specific issues too. But realistically you have the most power as a consumer.

There are plenty of other things you can do to show that you are against cruelty to animals. These are the most obvious ones I can think of, but surely you can add to the list...

IFAW is a much better organization when it comes to Animal Protection.

Oh, my God. I don't even dare to open up the page. My heart hurts.

Well StrangeQuark, to say the least, we have our history... but I still have to say, I completely applaud your stance here. You seem to be the only fully aware and fully caring person who has posted here on this subject matter.

That leaves the question: how many of us can actually do those five things?

So, are we doing a Qz protest or not? If yes, where can I sign in? ;)
All the images posted here make me sick. Instead of hurting innocent living beings, some important/stupid/not necessary heads should fall off!!!

killing animals in a cruel way is disgusting. It's bad enough we kill them to eat them.
Freddie: "Yes, we'll have a great big cock fly over the crowd!" Roadies: "Yeah! Great Idea!" Freddie: "And it will fly into a great big mouth with a moustache!"

I'm surprised to hear a response from you... and I appreciate the fact that it was a positive one. I've been holding back from posting on QZ for months, but I figured that now after so long, if I posted once in a while, you could easily choose to ignore my messages if you wished. Hope life is going well for you... but I won't push my luck with writing more than that.

Mr.Jingles, I'd only heard of IFAW before... but animal welfare is slightly different than animal rights. Under the "Save Animals" heading, it only includes species that the majority of people would feel comfortable helping. Interesting picture on the front page right now... Violence towards non-human animals and humans going hand-in-hand.

Another good link, if anyone's interested... and this one is G-rated. Just some AR questions and well-phrased answers that I find useful in defending my own stances. Someone else might find it useful as well.
