Pages 60-61 Q/Mojo Queen Classic Edition, makes a conjectured POSSIBLE point as to why MTV stopped playing Queen's videos...besides the story we all know about the "horror" over the band in drag in IWTBF, in that the top brass at MTV in a sense blacklisted Queen in retaliation to the lyrics of the song Radio Ga GA which took issue with MTV emphasizing the importance of visuals...OVER MUSIC.

Did they genuinely believe that the sight of Queen dressed as female characters inspired by the venerable British soap Coronation Street would corrupt America's youth? Or had the stations bigwigs perhaps caught wind of Radio Ga Ga's blunt critique of MTV and decided to punish the band? Well, Queen are too good for the MTV. It`s just crap on the channel anyway. I totally agree on the quote from Roger, the music should be the most important thing, not the f....ng way they act or dress (visual image).

MTV also banned Body Language in 1982. The video for Break Free was classic. It's OK for eMptyTV to show Britney and Madonna lesbo lip locking but still have a thing against videos like Break Free and Body Language. The more things change, the more they stay the same!

Wasn’t the first music video shown on MTV The Buggles’s "Video Killed the Radio Star"? Don’t think that is a “praise song” about video clips. The first video shown on MTV Europe was "Money for Nothing", by Dire Straits, which starts with the line "I want my MTV". Two songs with tongue-in-cheek humor not so much unlike Radio Gaga, I would say.

The first video shown on MTV Europe was "Money for Nothing", by Dire Straits, which starts with the line "I want my MTV". Two songs with tongue-in-cheek humor not so much unlike Radio Gaga, I would say.
I agree and yeah I was thinking about "Video Killed The Radio Star". How come some music artists (Queen in this case) become a scapegoat...and some don't? (the Buggles)
Like 2 years ago when The Dixie Chicks here in the USA got BANNED by USA country radio in the bible belt for stating their distate for President Bush Getting the USA into the war with Iraq...then 1 YEAR later....Bruce Springsteen, REM, Bright Eyes, Green Day, John Fogerty were on the COVER of Rolling Stone for launching a USA TOUR where they CAMPAIGNED against Bush and vehmently denounced his getting us involved with the war in Iraq in the press...and Radio Praised them all and played their records all the more...and now Green Day is getting TONS of radio airplay for their song called I think "American Idiot" about Pres. Bush involving us in the war with Iraq. I guess sometimes....the FIRST artist that does SOMETHING NEW...is the first to get flack over it...before everyone else jumps on the bandwagon and makes it "acceptable".

American Idiot is loser punk! Green Day are poseur punk! I listened to the album and it is a boring attempt of punk's equal to Tommy, The Wall, Operation:mindcrime and what not. I think all political parties suck! I got put on FBI watch list for listening to my father's Republican agenda at a time when I needed to grieve the death of my grandmother and also my mother almost died twice at the time and my grandfather had cancer. Seeing Kerry bash the military(my father was US Army 30 plus years, oldest bro was Navy, older sis was Air Force, uncle in Army Reserve and another in FEMA(which is US Emergency)) caused me to go off the deep end and I sent Kerry a few scathing emails which had figures of speech not worth repeating. Whilst I was in my native Massachusetts with family all summer, the CIA/FBI had a warrant for my arrest but my dad got me out of it citing my form of autism(Aspergers Syndrome) and being in a military family combined with tragedies I was dealing with. My friends afterwards told me to just stay away, my response was "if it were my choice, I'd see any member of Pink Floyd as President, unfortunate they are from England!" Now, politics are a JOKE IMHO!
