Okay, I am a bit new so for my information, who was Elijah? I take it he was a baby who has passed on.

Elijah was my nephew who was born Nov. 10, 2002. He was born weighing only 1 pound 9 oz. The Dr.s gave him little hope, but he always seemed to come through. He had had several surgeries, one of which they took out most of his intestines, because they started to die. He was doing fine, in and out of the hospital was nothing to him. Then the meds he was on began to effect his liver. He would die within one year if not for a transplant. A donor became available 2 days before thanksgiving. He had a 4 organ transplant, since the donor baby had very healthy organs and he didnt they transplanted all of them. He was doing very well, all the organs were working as they should, he developed a virus that one out of every 4 transplant patients get. A antibiotic was flown up from Florida. The transplant Dr. said if they see no change in 1 week they would have to discuss taking him off the ventilator that they had put him on. They left him on it for 2 weeks. I work with his grandma, we got a call at 1:00pm on Jan. 18th.that they HAD to take him off of it. We went up to Riley Hosp. And at 4:00pm they put him in his mothers arms and unplugged the ventilator. He never took another breath. The Dr.s did allow all of us to stay in the room. Its the first time I ever saw a Dr. cry.
He went throught so much at such a young age and still managed to smile...it should be a lesson to all of us.

Yes, its sad, but thanks to Dr. Ladd and the 'crew' of transplant Dr.s we had him for 2 years, and you see how happy he was.
What a beautiful little boy - he looked like a little angel here on earth so surely he must be one in heaven. Thank you for sharing your precious memories of Elijah with us.
