Well, I couldn't be of any help with this unfortunately. I think that here is the most important thing personal experience. Which I don't have :-( Maybe somebody from QZ could help.

Minidisc recorders are cheaper than DAT, but they have slightly compressed sound. It's usually most noticable on the drums. Whichever you choose, be sure to pay attention to the settings in order to get the best sound. Like you would with a videotape, you should use the shortest recording time (80 minutes with MD, for example) in order to get the best sound.

Well, I'm home but the torrent isn't finished yet. The seeder isn't using Superseed mode, so it's going slowly. It should be ready in about two more hours. When my download finishes, I'll get it going here if nobody's beaten me to it. Check back around 8:00pm EST.
