I have nothing but admiration for people who visit an English forum and post in what to them is a foreign language. It puts the English to shame. After all, we think that to be understood abroad all we have to do is to speak very slowly and very loudly! If that doesn't work then we give up, and walk away muttering under our breaths about thick foreigners.

Hats off to you all, and please, don't feel the need to apologise, the majority of English speaking people on this board wouldn't last two minutes if the rolls were reversed!

add me on the list too: really sorry if i make any mistakes - in any language that is not my mother tongue and i "speak" it here: english, spanish, japanese, whateva...

As a person who speaks perfect English, which is my native tongue (not counting the little German I apparently spoke when I was a little kid in Germany), I myself don't like it when people take words and twist them around, making them sound improper.

The English language, believe it or not, is a language I hate. There are so many rules that it doesn't follow, which makes it hard for a lot of people to learn because of that.

For example, the sentence "I don't owe anybody nothin'" SHOULD technically mean that you DO owe some people something, but we take it as what the person implies, that they don't owe anyone anything.

That just bugs me. I'm amazed that an Aspergic person like me can understand English perfectly, because many people who are more disabled than me cannot learn to speak (or even understand) as well as a lot of people do.

That's just my two cents.

Christ almighty people, is this what the board is coming to? Kicking off people for not speaking perfect English? Personally, I would never dare going on a Spanish-speaking or Dutch-speaking board and try to speak their respective languages on there. This board is for everyone to use, and I respect and applaud people from other nations who come here, some who can even speak better English than most English-speaking people, and try to communicate with other Queen fans. Sure, it may not be the best English, but is it that hard for the native English-speakers to understand?

I personally think that Serry is one of the better posters on this board, as he is always around to provide information or a link to information. And then for an asshole like Wombat, who I haven't even seen around these parts previously - and, I might had, who has worse English skills than Serry - to come around here and gloat about Serry leaving... well, that's just pathetic and sad. Everyone who criticizes someone for attempting to learn the English language and not succeeding to your expectations should really be ashamed of yourselves. I'd rather see some broken English than some teenage AOL speak.

Well said Lester. I am AMAZED and have always wanted to say how VERY much I respect, admire and applaud, Sergey..and all of the other Qzoners from around the globe who come to QZ and speak, from what I can see, wonderful English.

Yet in my own USA neighborhood, I can't get through a day without hearing Latino, Spanish, Russian, 20 kinds of Oriental. You wouldn't believe how many foreign languages I heard just at McDonalds for breakfast this morning.

Does ANYONE in the USA speak and understand English anymore, Cripes!

Good post, Lester. With you on that one. Especially as English is my second language and I do some mistakes from time to time (sometimes less, sometimes more...). As I wrote in that thread Wombat pointed out- is it because of English or is it because Serry is Russian and Wombat is Ukrainian...? I refuse to believe is only language-based...

I have never learned English in my life, I don't have any Russian-English dictionary around me when I'm near my PC. Therefore if I make mistakes or write something meaningless - I'm sorry about that.

Russian and English languages are TOO different - we don't have articles 'a', 'the' for instance, nor 'am', 'are' - if you wanna say "I'm going to kick your ass" on Russian it would be "I going to kick your ass" :)

So again, sorry!

Well, I didn't want to talk about it, but since he doesn't want to say himself his reasons why he hates me - I'll tell you.

Few years ago this guy wrote me letter about my former web-site (there were short snippets from rare stuff, like "Green" before it was released on Freddie's solo box set etc.) and asked me if I could burn CD-Rs with Freddie's Solo Box Set for him. For money. My answer was no, since the box set was available in the markets (shops? I don't know what's the difference actually) and I'm not a trader by the way.

Later we've met on one Queen fans' (from ex-USSR countries) convention and he again asked me to sell something for him from my collection (some copies of different documents like Brian's handwritten message for Russian fans what he wrote in Germany in 1998) but I wasn't owner of the original paper and owner of the original paper asked me not show my copy to anyone else, since he was going to post it on his web-site soon.

Few weeks ago I posted on QZ snippets from the after-party video (October 2004 with Brian and Roger playing live in Kremlin), this video is selling by some guys and wasn't supposed to be uploaded for free (this is how they thought, since if it's available for free - who's gonna buy it then?!) and Wombat wrote me again that I've ruined his plans about his 'bussiness'! And by the way Wombat is bad trader as I know - and he DOESN'T have South Africa '84 show, so be aware before you'd get contact with him.

I respect all collectors but I'm collector too and if I want to share something rare I guess I don't need permissions from other collectors...

Sergey...sweetie, I am again..amazed and highly respect you for tackling the English language..and like I said, people in my own neighborhood here in the USA don't even bother to learn to read, write, or speak the language..and they are USA Citizens.

You're English is fine and you always offer very intelligent, helpful information to us very fortunate people on QZ who appreciate your time & effort. :)
