Well, I've just got home, having had to go shopping after the concert, and wow!!!
They added Under Pressure tonight, which was introduced by Peter Kay.....
Brian's guitars seemed a bit frail tonight, he seemed to have a lot of problems with them.
Gotta say that even without Freddie, this was some show. The musicianship was above first class, it was.......
I'll let someone else put the set list up, though as I'm in nned of some food.

Guitar was only a bit frail at the beginning of HTF. Apart from that, the solos, IWIA & AKOM sounded as though they were straight off the record. I was VERY VERY impressed with the whole evening. They sure kept us waiting though! 8:30pm? I was in my seat at 7pm!

Performance wise the guitars sounded fine, but quite a few times he changed his guitars. More so than normal I suspect. During Crazy he had problems, in that the first guitar they gave him after the accoustic failed. That's what I meant, not the performance wise
Just got back and... wow.
Brilliant preformance, something I will remember for a long time. Thought there would be more bouncing to BR to be honest though.
I managed to get Paul Rogers red wristband at the end when he was coming up to bow. I just screamed at him for it and he lent over and threw it to me. Great guy, great preformer.

Cracking concert, I Want It All the pick for me, that said Roger giving Peter Kay the finger (after pointing out that just two more weeks of 'Amorrillo' (spelling??) at number one would put him in the same league as Bo Rhap) was pretty perfect too.

Well, don't feel too bad considering. Put a few away, I suppose - but spread over 9 hours, so ended up drinking myself sober. Didn't you see us? That was Archie and I smoking cigars and demanding service at the bars. Yes, that's right! I trod on your toes and damned your eyes as you tried to get past me to go to the toilet. No, not that fat bastard - I was the handsome one.
Cracking show! The M.E.N. ain't the best venue in the world, but they blew the roof off, which even The Darkness couldn't quite manage. Paul Rodgers wasn't as bad as I was expecting, although I won't be rushing out to buy any of his records. And what's with leather trouser at nearly 60 - surely a criminal offence? Maybe they were rubber, that would be understandable, I suppose. Good to see him off the dole, though. Sang a song called Wishing Well, which was met with thunderous applause when it ended - the crowd were as relieved to see it over as I was.
I reckon Brian just improves with age, like the finest Burgundy. His voice was stronger than ever, and his guitar playing top notch. I just sat in awe during Last Horizon. Mind you, I couldn't do much else. It came after a 20 minute guitar solo, so my arse had moulded to the seat.
Roger sounded great too, considering how unfit he looks. Gad, who would believe he used to be the pretty one? Some of the folk at the front threw condoms at him when he came on stage to introduce a song dedicated to AIDS victims. How times change - 30 years ago they were throwing knickers. It wasn't the best song really - would have loved to hear Tenement Funster instead. Really touching to hear him refer to Bri as 'my best mate', although Spike looked a little bit despondent.
Paul Rodgers was off stage for a good while - absolute bliss. Like having the boys back together again, as it should be. I Want It All was magnificent - best of the night for me. Handy piss break and a chance to wet my whistle during another Paul Rodgers number, then A Kind Of Magic, which was a bit flat though - don't know why, as it's a great song.
Had to do a double-take when Peter Kay came on with his sidekick from Max & Paddy (like Brian, I don't know his real name either). Does Peter Kay only own one shirt? He introduced Under Pressure which, while not one of my favourites, was superbly performed after only a day's rehearsal and was much appreciated by the crowd as the surprise it was intended to be.
Usual songs to close, including that Free song everyone has heard of (there's only one ain't there?), and Peter Kay (obviously pissed) joined the boys back on stage to take their deserved bows.
All in all, a wonderful celebration of the world's greatest band and hopefully not the last time we'll see Rog & Bri (and Spike of course - gad, he's aged) rocking away together on stage. As for Paul Rodgers - a valiant attempt, but expect to see him back on the bins next year.

I hate to say this but there is a lot of quality music 'out there' which measures upto the Queen catalogue (which is varied in its quality too). Paul Rodgers has written and performed on a number of songs which can be held in the top echelons.
What really gets to me is those people who are so biased as to think 'if its not Queen its crap'.
Dont get me wrong I Love Queen and I have virtually everything they ever output (give or take the odd columbian red vinyl) but tracks like Wishing Well, Cant Get..., All Right Now, are classics and to see these songs sung by PR with Queen putting their trademark sound to it is just as enjoyable to me.
It is certainly better than listening to those songs that dont work that well when performed live (Dreamers ball in 78 !, Calling all girls 82, Hard Life 84, Friends will be Friends 86).
In fact merging quality with quality can only have one outcome - better quality.

the band who do the bluegrass stuff are called

and they set off life as an AC/DC (hayseed dixie - geddit) tribute band but playing in bluegrass style.
As well as AC/DC they have also covered other bands such as Moteorhead (Ace of Spades) and i believe Sabbath and Zep too. You can easily buy their stuff in the shops as well as being able to download from the usual disreputable sites.

By the way in the intro to Fat Bottomed Girls did anyone else notice the snippet of White Man (previously mentioned at other shows) and (not seen mentioned yet) the merest of hints of the headlong riff (the fast bit just before the 1st verse where 3 power chords are played a number of times)

I played around with the file to clear it up a bit, had a bit of sucess. (I left under pressure on as well, it really isnt very good, but someone might want it!)

I'm sure you're right when you mention some of Paul Rodgers songs are in the upper 'echelons'. However the average person in the street wouldn't know PR from the Spice Girls nevermind naming two of his songs.
