Which programs play and record FLAC files onto CD+R?

I'm not sure if I have a program on my computer which opens and plays a FLAC file? What exactly is FLAC and what makes it so special? Any specific program you use with these files to play the songs? Please help! Thanks much!

Burn with Nero. That's really all you need to know!
