A quote by Neil Peart of Rush:
"I can hardly do better than quote something Gene Krupa once said, that there are all these great drummers in the world -- and then there's Buddy Rich. During the making of our tribute record to his music, Burning For Buddy, I immersed myself pretty deeply in Buddy's life and work, and the more I learned, the more I came to admire the man and his music. Quite simply, Buddy Rich was a great man, who did great work."

But I´m not saying that Gene Kruppa was better than Buddy. What i´m tryin to say is, when you reach a high level of performance like this two guys, i don´t think it´s fair to say that one is better than another.
On the other hand, i could say that the biggest beast i saw hitting the drums was John Bonham from Led Zeppelin and he´s considered by most modern drummers as the all time best. But for Bonham the best was Kruppa. It´s like going in circles, that´s why i like to say that all this guys are different between them but are unmachless for the others!
Take care
A very fair point, to which I am happy to concede. For me, the best drummer I have personally seen is Neil Peart - absolutely amazing.

Amen to that.
Gene Krupa has also played in Glen Miller's Big Band. When I used to play drums I used to listen to some of his records. I think he was great!
Sounded like "Dance With The Devil" to me...
Yes, indeed, it's very similar to Dance With The Devil. A little bit of tribute to Cozy in there? :-)
