Became fans in 1991/result discovering Queen's music, or Freddies Death?

for me (i became a Queen fan in 1991) - result of being born:)

Well, I`m one of those who became a Queen fan as a result of Freddie`s death. I had heard of them before but I didn`t really know their music. When I saw "Radio Ga Ga" on TV on November 26th 1991 it was like being reborn. And its my favourite Queen song and music video ever since. But the fact that he died was only the trigger to finally discover their music, the first whole album I listened to was Greatest Hits II (propably every single day in 1992). But I must admit one thing, I never would have become a fan if the music wasn´t great.

by the way, I was fourteen years old in November 1991.

Well... The world didn't know what they had until Freddie died..

At Freddie's death a lot of people discovered what a great artist he was.. but it was too late for them to see them life ( i don't blame young ppl like me who would never been able to see them because of age.)

I was seven years old in 1990, when i discovered Queen... I remember clearly the amazing feeling when I listened for the first time this greatest hits tape i got borrowed. I couldn't understand a single word of the lyrics, and i didn't even know who Freddie was, but i fell in love with this great music and of course with the best band of all times. When I heard of Freddie's death it was really sad, and I got angry... because i had just discovered Queen and suddenly Freddie wasn't around anymore... I know that many of my friends engaged this Queen fever after 1992, but that's great, because that means that Queen can gather many generations (as i'm part of the later ones) and always will be a classic

I became a fan in mid 1991, when Innuendo was out.

Couldn't it be that a lot of people who became fan 'because Freddie died' (although I don't like to say it that way) became a fan in 1992 rather than in 1991?
After all, Freddie died in late november, which is almost at the end of the year.

I suppose the quality of Innuendo as an album they have ben a small factor too; and Queen's increasing status as the elder statesmen of rock-just look at when they got the Outstanding Contribution Award in 1990- pop fans watching may have thought about their music for the first time. Fred's death was probably the biggest factor though.

I liked Queen's music a while before I really got in to them. I prefer the later stuff for some reason to the 70s stuff and even the 80s. I think I've always known Freddie was dead because my Mum has liked them for ages. But I think it might have something with Freddie's death that I became a fan.

It might not nessecerily be that though. Look at Lennon, he's dead but I don't love the Beatles, I don't even really like them that much. I think it's just that Queen's music is so different that I love it and that it's managed to be listened to after all these years.

Since I remember myself, whenever I heard any Queen song, I loved it. So, I cannot say when I started liking Queen, but I became a real fan, who wants to know everything and have everythig of Queen, less than a year ago, when I finely got all the albums. That's when I was hooked. I remember that in 1991 when Freddie died, I've seen more Queen on tv and heard more about them than ever before. But if it wasn't a great group and great music,people wouldn't become fans.Yes, they would feel sorry for Freddie, but that's it. I think the opportunity to actually see more Queen made a lot of new fans. But as I said above, it's not my case.

I think that I noticed Queen in 1991/1992 and the reason is that they were everywhere,and unfortunately they were everywhere because of freddie's death at that time,honestly queen is one of few things I can remember from early 90s,at that time I didn't realise that freddie died I mean as I started listening to queen 'for real' he was dead and I took it for granted,only later it really got me and I could felt the loss,and as the years go by,I get more into this remarkable performer and musician I think that on one of queen documentaries some girl says that freddie's voice is like a narcotic you cannot get enough of it

All I can say is that I became a fan aroud 1990, as far as i can remember, this because Italy has always been rather reluctant to achieve queen's fame, and nothing really happened to make them known to public until freddie's death.
