Keep Passing The Open Windows

In my opinion Keep Passing The Open Windows is one of the best songs on The Works together with It`s A Hard Life and Hammer To Fall..
It has never been performed live, anybody has an idea why ? It think it`s much underrated..

Well, they couldn't play all written, recorded, released songs... But song is very good, agree.

I agree, I love it!
Does anybody know what the open windows refer to? I guess many know....but I always wondered that.

Name for the song is quote from book of John Irving 'The Hotel New Hampshire' (song was written for the movie based on this book, but wasn't used). Literally it means "don't try suicide".

i think it has a bit more soul than most mid 80s queen album tracks. you can feel a real convinction and passion behind freddie's vocals.

less of which can be heard on "dont lose your head" or "hang on in there"

Thanks Sergey, that is very interesting. I didn't know it was written for a movie. I had heard it had to do with suicide, but I can't understand what the "open windows" have to do with it :-). Could you explain that to me?

I can't. I don't know what's the connection. This movie was shown on our TV two days ago but I didn't watch it, maybe if I'd heard where and when this quote was said - I'd explain, but... Sorry :(

Yeah that's what I think. The song is telling you to pass the open windows as apposed to throwing yourself out of them. :S

I have the same theory... keep a certain distance to open windows... things that can be dangerous for you.... may be in a weak moment you lose control and jump / fall out of it or try to kill yourself.. there is a lot in the lyrics.. I really love that song. Freddie sings it with great passion and power.

from a nine-track cd you got seven played on the works tour

radio gaga, iwtbf, hammer, tear it up, machines, is this the world..., hard life

which only left two tracks - mano onthe prowl and open windows
