It's the casual arrogance that's so endearing.

If you felt strongly about the Poverty/Cancer issues, you'd buy the bands "new", thus ensuring your money goes to the right place.

If you want to look cool and are an uncaring fuckwit, you buy them on ebay.

Of course, you're correct to say that you may buy and sell what you wish (within the law - the copyright in the bootleg is still held by the artist, incidentally), BUT as I said, to then use lack of funds as justification for your activities is stupid & hypocritical.

And a signed photo of Peter Kay is clearly a once in a lifetime opporunity...

At the time I bought the Poverty/Cancer bands, they had totally sold out in all shops (as we all know, there was unbelievable support for them).

As for the comment about looking cool, I don't even wear the damn things, I simply bought them to do my bit. Even though I bought them off eBay, the half-wit who was selling them still had to pay the same price as everyone else buying them from the shop... therefore, the charity still got the same amount of money they would have done anyway. Its me that paid over the odds, not the charity that lost out.

As for my 'hypocritical' actions in selling the CDs to raise funds to go to Hyde Park, how the hell is that hypocritical of me??

What did I say within this topic to brand myself a hypocrite??
B
Oh, and I'd love you to explain your comment about the Peter Kay autograph... I don't quite get it...

Quite ironic really that you pointed that out, since he's supporting Queen+PR at Hyde Park...

Maybe I'll have a look at signed Razorlight items later on...

Btw, just listening to my bootleg of the Sheffield concert - amazing!

Again people get so excited about these things I mean it's only a bloody bootleg!!!

considering the signed photo of Peter Kay is fake! and for your info yes i might be going to Hyde Park but believe it or not im doing the innocent thing and working for it, im working for the cash and in the end, i can go down and say it really payed off, instead of going and saying to myself "yes i got to go by ripping off some thick shit", that would fill me with guilt but i doubt it will with you! my point made, im outta this thread!

What a load of bollocks. If you wanted to do 'your bit', you could have made a direct contribution to the charity. Instead you bought a wristband off Ebay and the charity got NOTHING from your transaction - so, indeed, they did lose out.

You argue wiith "hypocritical" but "stupid" goes unchallenged...

Calm down everybody! The bad language and character assasinations on both sides are unnecessary; cant you all play nicely?

Yeah - selling bootlegs is wrong, and terribly annoying, but it goes on in copious amounts... for a while it was certainly my main way of getting hold of the things, because I hadnt seen that there was another way of getting some of the bootlegs on QZ through rapidshare (I cant use torrent because of a firewall).

The way forward is simply to report anyone selling bootlegs to ebay, and they will be removed;
Youre not gonna get through to them on here though - these people are from the same school of people who thinks that downloading their entire music collection off kazaa etc is ok, and that CD's being overpriced (a less valid argument these days) is reason for them not to pay for musicians hard work.

Peneration Guru you were going to buy one of those bootlegs........

yes, it must have slipped my mind...

or, maybe I was feigning interest instead of outright calling you a leech.

Why can't everyone just give Brettles a break?

It seems to me that too many members of this site are just whinging arseholes who have got nothing better to do than slag off other members.

I see constant nit picking in so many threads - people just can't wait to jump straight in and highlight every single speling mistacke and grammatticall erorr. (That's supposed to be humour - so please don't pull me up on it).

Are the sales of these bootlegs on Ebay affecting your life in any way?

Are the people buying them happy with their purchase? - just look at his 100% feedback record.

Ok, so the concerts can be downloaded, but not everyone is able to download hundreds of Megabytes. Not everyone is able to burn CD's. The buyers of this concert were happy to pay £12 for the service provided by Brettles

In the old days we had to go to record fairs and car boot sales to buy bootlegs - why is selling them on Ebay any different?

I say live and let live. Isn't this site supposed to be for people to communicate about their common interest - The Greatest Rock Band on the Planet?

Brettles: I can offer you a lift to London for the Hyde Park gig if you're interested. I will be travelling down from Leeds on the Friday morning.

Get a life you sad people, and i quote" So, if you have the full set, I'll be a buyer" so dont you think you are setting double standards!!!!!!!

And we are big and brave sat behind a computer calling someone a leech aren't we?
P
If you're suggesting that I wouldn't say it to your face, you are wrong.

As to whoever says live and let live - I have no children & I am no longer a child - am I therefore not allowed an opinion on paedophilia?

(extreme example use to illustrate point)

I've just come across another item on eBay, selling exactly the same thing with exactly the same description by a different eBayer!!

In fact... I'll tell you the truth... the person selling that is ME! So Gillian, stop moaning - I paid £90 for my ticket off eBay to enable me to go see Queen+PR at Sheffield. If ticket touts can make twice the ticket value on eBay, then why the hell can't I get my ticket price back selling a bootleg of the concert??

I, or the other bloke who's knicked my description of the concert ("This concert at Sheffield was the one chosen to be recorded for a DVD of the tour" - yes, that's mine), are doing no harm in selling this, and if you're telling me that you wouldn't buy a bootleg of a concert that you'd been to, then you're bullshitting.

Besides, the money that I've made off this bootleg and also off photographs of the concert that I've been selling on eBay is only going to be used to purchase my concert ticket, train ticket and accomodation for the Hyde Park concert anyway - what's so wrong with that?

I look forward to your reply Gillian, or anyone else who wishes to slate me for doing this!

Have a nice day!

Why should we care how you spend your money?
Your selling illegal things, wich is illegal (dah).
And that your spending it on a hyde park ticket is also bulshit, I mean someone else would have bought a Hyde park ticket if you wheren't there. And apart from that using the same money is for them like playing for free to you :S.
