Hello,
Does Brian use the "Bread" pickup combination for Another One Bites The Dust as it is a sort of Banjo sound innit?
Brian May is the Best Guitarist ever! not sure about Slash www.BrianMayCentral.net

Sorry, in amongst your thousand threads in the "Teach yourself guitar" forum, I missed the one where the "bread" tone was described.

Hence my question....

What the fuck are you talking about?

For $500 and bottle of vodka - I'll teach how to play this damned guitar!

Hello,
Sorry i meant the "Bread and Butter" tone which Brian rarely used i think, or for Another One Bites The Dust did he just use the bridge and middle pickups in phase, for Another One Bites The Dust? but i am not sure see, because it is a Banjo sound.

I don't think it was Brian actually playing those "Bread and butter" tones. According to Sebastian's website previously (before it was erased), John apparently played these tones on another guitar (in the studio version anyways)

adding "and butter" to your description does not assist, person of reduced intellectualism.

on a strat, though, I would use bridge/middle (in phase before you ask, not that I have the choice), roll off the volume a little (I refuse to be more specific than "a little") and use a clean amp sound.

This then gives a bright, open, slightly jangly sound which, with judicious use of muting (I predict a thread on the subject shortly) should enable not only a ...Dust-esque sound, but also (AND using the same chord!!!!!!) Another Brick In The Wall! Two for the price of one...

Banjo???? FUCKING BANJO???????

I despair/salute your imaginative windup*

I wouldnt be suprised if this is another Tele/Boogie set-up as was used in CLTCL.

I certainly dont think this is a RS/AC30 tone. Actually I dont think this is the RS at all.
I love you for your mind baby give me your body.
T
the RS wasnt used on the studio take of CLTCL at all, as Mr. May played a Telecaster (I think) for the solo and lead fills......however, one thing I always thought was cool was that Mr. May played three guitars in the course of one song while playing this number ilve.....he strummed an Ovation for the beginning, then empleyed the aformentioned Telecaster for the solo, and then went to the good ol Red Special for the latter parts of this Freddie-written gem..........on which Freddie himself played guitar..........a Tele.......at least in later concerts.........
I'll take you to the Seven Seas of Rhye

Hang on, there's a complete guide to getting exactly the right tone there. If you're looking for a post from me with a "jerk attitude",

1. There are better examples.
2. They aren't that hard to find.
