do you think q&pr will make a stop at this gig?

Brian has already said that they are gigging elsewhere on that day.
And I also already said that's horse hockey.
IF Brian & Queen+Paul Rodgers TRULY wanted tp play the Live 8...they can STILL play Lisbon the same day and jump a chopper or plane to also play at Live 8.
Phil Collins played at BOTH London & Philly, USA the same day on 2 continents at the Original Live Aid..and I'm sure that was NOT easy. Taking the Concord notwithstanding...due to a terribly exhausting and demanding literally to the second time constrant, shuttles from and to each airport, differences in time zones, jet lag ...and Collins played sevveral sets at Wembley/London both solo, and with Sting,...
...then in the USA in Philly with Eric Clapton & then with Led Zeppelin.
So blah, blah,...this would be extremely excellent International exposure for Queen+Paul Rodgers...so if they REALLY wanted to do it...they easily could. Lisbon ain't near as far from London...or any of the other Live 8 cities' concerts in Berlin, Paris, Rome...they could do those too..or London.
Excuses, excuses....Yawn

Maybe they weren't asked? Queen+PR might not be considered A list...
If they wanted to play it, they could. If there is a will there is a way.

Oh no, a lottery...
In the unlikely and hypothetical event of playing both shows, I think that they could play live 8 first, and be one of the first acts of the afternoon, maybe even the opening act, and then go to Lisbon.
It wouldn't be a good ideia to play Lisbon first, and then fly to London, or wherever to play Live 8, due to some reason: one of them is that the show in Lisbon is scheduled to start at 8pm, so they won't finish before 10:30, which is to late to fly anywhere and play, even London which is in the same time zone; another one is that no fan who will go to Lisbon wants to see them in a hurry to finish the show
But even playing London and then Lisbon poses several problems: all the major equipment will be in Lisbon, so they must have doubles like drums and amplifiers ( they wouldn't be allowed to use all of their own equipment in Londdon, like lights, speakers and so on...), but this doesn't really seem like a big deal...they have money for extra equipment;
One bigger deal would be the setting of Lisbon, as it is the first stadium concert (I'm not sure if Fyllingen is stadium or not, but anyway) they have to be prepared and concentrated to make a proper show, including the previous soundchecks, which requires to be at the place some time before...it´s not just landing and playing.
The advatages of doing both shows properly would interesting:
- 20 years after, being present again at the event
- getting more international acclaim on the tour, something that 46664 wasn't big enough for
- I could allow an hour delay in Lisbon, so it would start around nine and I would get the whole show at night, which I prefer because I want to have all the feeling of the light set
- maybe they could put a good first part band in Lisbon (the ticket already says +guests, but I think they mean Danny, Spike and Moses)
- it would be cool for us Lisbon concert goers to see them coming directly from the Live Aid to the show, maybe they could even land there in a helicopter, like in the old times
- for all the fuss, Brian and Roger would make an autograph session or something like that, so I could get my Red Special signed..and increased in value
Another funny, and very theoretical, solution could be, and this one goes to Mr.Geldof:
- as you are doing the show in different cities, you could make an extra one....guess, where? exactly: in Lisbon!!!
- you would start the show around 2pm, and before Queen would come on stage we would have 6/7/8 hours of other bands...and then Queen would close the show with their normal 2.5 hours concert...and the tickets would be the ones we already have..I don't care I paid for them, and the others go for free...I prefer paying to lottery
- and now Mr. Geldof tells me: but I have no more acts to put in Lisbon, they are all in the other cities!!! don't worry..you still can put in Lisbon: the Eagles, Brian Adams, Joe Cocker, the Corrs (I like those sexy sisters), Mark Knopfler, and as London is getting a reunion of the Spice Girls I want a reunion of ABBA ... and I accept more suggestions....
If anyone else wants to contribute to this plan, please feel free to add details.

Maybe..Queen+Paul Rodgers should extend the hand of good will, and OFFER to play to Bob Geldof...as this is for charity/benefit/good cause.
Do the right thing...and offer/ask to perform.
If Queen+Paul Rodgers cant be in BOTH Lisbon & London, then do a satellite hookup from Lisbon.
In 1985. at Live Aid INXS did a satellite hookup/link from Australia and Autograph did a satellite hookup/link from Russia...Come on Queen+Paul Rodgers get with the program!!!!

The (on paper) simple solution is to postpone the gig in Portugal. All tickets bought can be used at a rescheduled gig later in the year.
The simple fact is that Queen and Paul Rogers HAVE to be in London to perform at this gig. It seems such a waste for the band not to be involved.
You can bet your bottom dollar that Roger, Brian and Paul would rather be in London and they have the power to make it so.
This is a landmark gig and we want Queen part of it. Portugal will wist away on the mists of time as simply another gig as part of a tour.
What's Jim Beach's phone number for Chrissakes!

Can you imagine if all of QZ had Jim Beach's phone number! We'd be ringing that mother off the hook.
Well as my African American friends here in the USA say and have taught me alot of their vernacular slang...this bloody situation is "Off The Hook"...(slang for NOT good...very, very bad)...WORD my brother!
Yo..Jim Beach...book Queen+Paul Rodgers at Live 8. Word Up!!!!
Oh wait I found Jim's phone number. 1-888-no clue.
You can also try 1-888-clueless.

Queen DON`T have to be in London to perform this gig. And i really don´t like the fact that the simplest solution is to postpone the concert in Portugal. it´s a total desrespect for the people who bought tickets before Live 8 was even planned, like i did.
Perhaps if Gueldof had planned this earlier, it was still possible for Live 8 to be on the 8 of july, and to have Queen on the bill!!
Really, i understand the british fans frustation but live goes on. People just can´t cancell something to be on Live 8 like it was the smartest thing to do. In live aid 85 both BB King and INXS participated via satellite link. Why Queen can´t do the same?
To cancel a gig (if not for medical reasons) is the most desrespectfull thing that an artist can do to it´s fans.
This matter is really geting on my nerves.
IS IT THE BRITISH PRESS that want Queen in London or is just the fans? - Because if it is the british press i really don´t get it. The ones that spent 30 years saying Queen were shit!!
If you want Queen in London just wait four more days for the Hyde Park concert.
And let me tell you something - Portugal is probably the most suportive Queen country in the world since 1975, and they never toured here (i´m from Portugal), so i don´t think that postpone the concert would be the right decision.
The thing is:
Queen obviously want to participat at Live 8.
Gueldof and the fans want them to participate.
So, Just put the satellite link to Lisbon that night.
Please just don´t say that Queen have to be in London to participate, that sounds ridiculous!!
And about Duran Duran, Andrea Boceli, etc. Where do they have to be?
Take care

I have NO problem with Queen+Paul Rodgers still playing Portugal and honoring their gig & fans. That's why I said, do a satellite link.
One more time as I already said FYI QZ........
Bob Geldof IS "appearing" at Queen's 46664 Arctic via either a satellite link or sending a prerecorded video.
Why can't Queen+Paul Rodgers return the favor...to Geldof and to this VERY important worthy cause?
I predict this "concert" will be a flop. Did you see some of those lineups? Who cares?
Things have changed a lot since 85.....including the death of Rock and Roll.
They would be wise to stay away....its going to be a joke.
