I really hate to say this, but they'd probably have no choice but to become some of the trash going around today (evanescence, metallica, avril lavigne, etc.)
otherwise they wouldn't be popular (cause their style isnt popular anymore)

but do you wonder why that was?
i know most people will think it was because of the whole hiv/aids thing...but this thread was a "what if"? ...and i think that freddie was sick to the back teeth of the viscious cycle - which is why i added ad-nauseum
let's face it, how many bands did a constant cycle of album-tour-album-tour-album for 14 years with only ONE YEAR off? - none who maintained their original line up - that's who
I dont think that assessment is right at all. I think Brian said that a few times in interviews because he wanted to mask what was really going on, not the fact that Freddie reallly didnt want to tour no more> You can look at the performance videos from the miracle and even headlong and see that he probably wanted to be on stage.
