Proof that a band is good... When they can write a song about something you disagree entirely with and you sit there listening to the song over and over again.

I, future member of the NRA and major gun rights activist, have been listening to "Put Out the Fire" for the last twenty minutes.

I love that song :)

I also love "Feel-Like-I'm-Fixin'-to-Die Rag" by Country Joe & The Fish, while we're on the subjects of songs in which you love the song but disagree with the message ;)
"Brian May, Freddie will."

"put out the fire" belongs with "I want it all" to the best rocksongs of Queen during the eighties I think. It's really a great song with one of the best guitar solo's. I love the song. It "saved" the hot space album a little bit. It should have been a single instead of Back chat.

yeah it's true, i listens hours and hours for songs wich i don't like for the message...but the bands are good ;)

i love put out the fire
Anything too stupid to be said... is sung.

I agree with the message and the consensus that the tune kicks ass.
The music video looks a little weak, though.
Gonna need to look into that.
HE ROCKS US STILL. Proud Supporter of the Queen Lives Compilation

It was always the song I really wanted to hear from Hot Space...and it got some good airplay here in Canada because it was the only real rock track on the album and as the "B-side" to Calling All Girls...it gave Rock Radio something to play....it definitely should have been a single - shows again how they didn't realize their audience in North America..........also I remember "I Go Crazy" getting played a couple times on the radio....although I love that one and agree it shouldn't have been a single... Hammer to Fall should have been the early single from the Works

To go off on a tangent a little bit.......thats one of the things I love about the band Rush....they rock, and most of their messages are ones I agree with! heh heh...but Queen was never really that much of band with a message....only a few of their songs have any real serious social/political statement to them...(Hammer To Fall, White Man, One Vision, The Miracle, Is This The World We Created...the ones I can think of at the moment)

Not that that lowers my opinion of Queen in the slightest though.....
I'll take you to the Seven Seas of Rhye

To go off on yet another tangent....Put Out The Fire is played in 'drop-D' tuning, isnt it? I say that cus I was listening to a live recording of Fat Bottomed Girls, and for a second, it reminded me of Put Out The Fire....
I'll take you to the Seven Seas of Rhye

the live version of POTHF is amazing. I saw in Queen Live In Japan and love the Roger backing vocals
