..or just a spoken message/statement (which I don't think is pointless at all, as while it's a letdown from an actual performance..it is STILL GREATLY appreciated and sent with good intentions and good will).

I would assume this will be recorded message. I'm quite sure there will be number of other big and small artists to send a message as well.
If it is a sattelite link, it has to be a performance of songs. Otherwise they didn;t need a satelite link, they just need to record the interview and show it on hide Park.
If there;s a link, it means that they are going to do something in real time. It can be a song or just a speech. Who knows...

Agreed. Roger said in the same interview it'll be a satellite link, which IMHO would be an expansive way of sendind a simple message.

I hope they do at least a song....after all it's for charity and if they play I'll watch...if they are just going to do a voice message...I'll probably find other things to do......a blistering version of Tie Your Mother Down would be good....or perhaps Roger's Say It's Not True may be more fitting....

It would be a good opportunity to do The Prophet's Song, but they're more likely to resurrect Is This the World We Created.
The final push concert will be held later, maybe our friends will show up there.
Brian has a post on his website if I recall in his ''Brian's Soapbox'' section dated 7/1/05, stating that Queen will be sending a supportive message. He didn't mention anything about Queen+Paul Rodgers performing at all, only a message.
But I still think that sending a supportive message is good, (dissapointing as I would have liked to see a performance of course), but, the fact that they are showing their support, good will, and good intentions for a global, important good cause, is STILL what matters and is important and worthwhile nonetheless and in the grand sense of things.

I just watched Brian on a Portuguese television and he said that they were going to record a message for live 8. So, i supose that there`s not going to be any link to Lisbon and no one outside the stadium will be able to see it.

I was joggin in Hyde Park before and around 8:5 you could here something as start of Let There Be Drums/Gene.. so imagination got wings, but after dew minutes it was clear that was not it and Pink Floyds started to rehearse.
In papers this morning it was said that Robbie Williams will not perform Angels but rather We Will Rock You instead. What a ego :)

:)))))) Well, the photo is fun and the message behind could be that he is trying too much with this Queen thing. I mean, first he did WATC and did a video which is not the same as original, but... you know :) Then, all those "breaking news" about Q+RB and this and that.. then him performing Q songs, all those stuff.. and when I would expect now it's enough, Queen thing is past tense so let's move on with something new... there he is again. So, that picture could be exactly that thinking.
On the other side, Queen did steal the show back in 1985. I'm not saying RB will now try the same as those things happen without plan really, but there are few people who can make WWRY work and he is the one of few those like it or not. That song could be nice intro to what will happen 6 days after.
