I just read on teletext today that Queen have now become the number 1 artists for weeks their albums have been in the charts
It states that Queen have spent 1322 weeks in the charts.
So now we can justifiably say that Queen are number 1 !

weeks on chart doesn't mean a whole lot, record sales is surely a better indicator of world wide popularity.
in terms of world wide sales the beatles beat everyone hands down, [last i heard it was over a billion sales for the beatles, and that was a good few years ago] and rightly so. never, as derek taylor says on the beatles anthology sleve notes, has the world agreed on anything as much as liking the beatles.
i'm glad however that my two favourite bands are numbers one and two in terms of weeks on the charts

The Beatles will always have the edge in sales but netherless these are 2 great legendary bands who are highly influential and extremely popular worldwide.

I love The Beatles dearly, but Queen will always beat them (in my mind) but honestly...I was surprised when I saw that Queen was above them (AND ELVIS!!) GO QUEEN!!!!!!!!
