Anyone else think Tie Your Mother Down would've been a bigger hit on the charts [because it's huge hit in my heart] if it were relased during the 'video era'. I see it as kind of a cross of the Girls just wanna have fun and We're not gonna take it from twisted sister videos with over the top cartoonish parents, heck the family.

Hey! You leave my mother out of this! Oh, wait. Never mind. ;-)
Tie Your Mother Down was released in 1977, and indeed had an accompanying video.
It didn't get a high chart position because of the Punk invasion apparently.
I don't believe that though. It just didn't sell that well.

Yeah the fact it wasn't a big hit annoys me because it meant it didn't get on the greatest hits, but luckily they decided to shove it on GVH1 anyway :D
It was a hit but rock fans usually bought the whole album thus ADATR was a HIT....pop fans were the more fickle ones and would just buy a single....if you listen to radio stations everywhere, Tie Your Mother Down has also really endured as a hit.........and to know that rock fans buy albums just look how many hit singles Zeppelin had????
