Hey, I'm the biggest Queen fan that ever lived and this Cover CD is good. Brian May performs on many of these tracks. Nice that you insult him as well as me.

it's been said before (usually by me - but i get shouted down when we talk of other bands and i say this) i say that the original is how a song is MEANT to be - a cover is an imitation (so by default) can't be 'better'... sometimes they're good, very often interesting or FUN - but NEVER as good - as they are derivative and thereby lack one important ingredient - originality

so personally, i think that EVEN if Queen covered a Spice Girls song, the original is STILL best becuase the original is HOW IT SHOULD sound

Well, I won't be buying this. Not really impressed by most of the cover versions. A good cover version should not make you cringe, I'm afriad most of these do. Eleven's version of Stone Cold Crazy sounds quite interesting. Different. The rest just aren't my taste, or sound like bad kareoke. Oh well.

I thought Green Day were doing their cover on here too?

Oeh.. I like that version of CLTCL! Pretty different but good. And that slow version of Stone Cold Crazy sounds good to me as well.
Maybe the version of SCC that's called a 'different slow version' played live by Queen in the early years could have sounded like this.

I don't like Bicycle Race. It sounds like they had to hurry because they had only 2 minutes to record it.
And I feel sorry to say it, but that version of BoRhap by Flaming Lips sounds like the JostiBand... (don't mean to offend the JostiBand here)

In witch songs did Brian participate?- Did he played guitar on this cd?
After the Dragon Attack tribute cd, i can handle almost everything!!

Take care

OK, just finished listen to it and this is what i think:

They`re all good, and did the best they could.
My favorite is Under Pressure by Joss Stone. It`s fantastic!!!

I found Bicycle Race very curious too.

The thing is, i like more when wemen sing Queen songs than men, because Freddie`s voice had more of a women tone.
I allways wondered how it would sound The Show must go on sunged by Mariah Carey.

As for Constantine Bo Rap it`s very good indeed, but doesn`t match the original, although he has a voice very closed to Freddie`s (for what i`ve heard). If he get the right persons around him he will have a career. Wish him all the best!!

Take care

I totaly agree with this wise guy, also known as Brenski. I also think that the original is how the song should be, and if you cover it, it's "personality" disappears.
heyheyheyhey, it was the DNA...

som problems there, but I hope you understand it :)

I must say, Constantine's BoRhap was great, while the Flaming Lips' version was laughable. The best one on the CD was Ingram Hill. Jason Mraz (is that even pronouncable?) made GOFLB sound almost orgasmic. Joss Stone did a really weird, but really good cover of Under Pressure. Breaking Benjamin did well too. The worst two were Gavin DeGraw's WATC and Be your own pet's Bicycle Race (Did they even sing anything?)
Nonono, you don't understand, that is NOT why I have this gerbil!

I'm really getting to like Sum-41's cover of Killer Queen.

Constantine's version is simply shit! Joss Stones did a good job, in my opinion!

I saw Freddie perform Bo Rap live 3 times and this version rocks! Its the best cover I've heard. Not smoking anything. Listen. Especially the chorus with the We Will Rock You cast. That's good.

i`m with confreddie, for me, it`s definitely the best version of BoRhap i ever heard...
it`s simply beautiful...they`ve respected the original structure of the song, and the voice of that guy its great
it`s a good album, i`ll buy it
obviously it will never equalize the original versions, but it`s great anyway

Not exactly what I was expecting. There's a few really interesting arrangements and then some boring straight covers. If I do end up buying it, one thing's for sure I'll be skipping the Costantine and Jason Mraz tracks.

That Antigone Rising track just keeps me hooked.
If only I could get it in MP3 format...then I wouldn't keep wasting Hollywood's bandwidth. ^_^
