i love it when the heavy bit goes into the waltz piano.

This group needs to wake up! The Millionaire Waltz shows off some of Queen's skills and diversity, but Queen is a ROCK band. And Millionaire Waltz is NOT a rock song. And I don't remember Queen doing other waltzes. So to say this is the ultimate Queen song, or that this song defines Queen when they never did anything else like it, makes me gag.
If we want to choose something to be the ultimate in defining Queen's music, how about something that includes some energy, some great harmonies, some complexity in the layering, and great vocals showing off Freddie's voice, how about:
Somebody to Love
Innuendo
Show Must Go On
Who Wants to Live Forever
We Are the Champions

I disagree with you Rockyracoon. You say that Queen where a rock band, and this is not a rock song. Well, if Who Want's To Live Forever is a Rock song, The Millionaire Waltz definetively is a rock song. And Queen didn't play only rock, did they....?

queen were mainly rock if u put them in a cataggory they would fit in as rock but they do have some rockNroll or as u may say pop..but i still think Bohemian Rhapsody is the best...
Personally I just love this song because it shows what an amazing bass player John is. I've been playing bass for twelve years, and the runs at the start of the song still evade me! Overall, I think it would definitely be in my top 5 queen songs.
Most of Queen's music has a LOT of power. Millionaire Waltz is artistic, but it has no power. Therefore, to me, it doesn't do a good job of defining Queen.

Ah, Cool Cat and Dancer are way much better then The Millonaire Waltz, The Prophet's Song, Bohemian Rhapsody and The March Of The Black Queen.
I guess "ultimate", "defining", and "better", like art, are in the eyes (or ears, or heart) of the beholder.
It is definitely the song where you can see all individual qualities best, imo.
Don't Stop Me Now is another good one I think. And Bicycle Race.... The more I think of it, the more titles I can think of.
I always have many discussions with people who say the Beatles are the best band ever :-) I love the Beatles, but Queen are better musicians (technically). And in these songs mentioned you can really see that.
Of course, I love Innuendo, MOTBQ and all the others as well!!

Yeah, I do now that Queen were a rock band! But rockyracoon said that The Millionaire Waltz didn't "describe" Queen because it didn't have the power and energi of a rock song, or something like that. And then he wrote that Who Wants To Live Forever was a better song to "describe" Queen. But do Who Wants To Live Forever have much "power"? It's a beatuiful song, but I wouldn't say it is a Rock song...
There's an annoying click, click, click... a technical problem with Fred's piano, whenever he presses the damper pedal in Millionaire Waltz. It is most evident toward the beginning.
Besides that, Millionaire Waltz is a superbly executed song, as are most Queen songs. It's beautiful the way Freddie gradually transforms the eight notes in waltz meter to triplets in 4/4 time for the rock section. His sense of rhythm and timing was pure musical magic.
