Hello my beauties! I was thinking about that, and was wondering how hard it might have been to record Days of our lives for the boys...Knowing that Freddie would be gone in the near future and recording a song with such poignant and meaningful lyrics...I mean, the guys might have shed a few tears, don't you think so?

Hard it was. Just watch the British Awards from 1990 with Brian almost crying, Roger looking uncomfortable, Freddie moved and John as always not saying a darn thing.
Of course John must have had a nervous breakdown, Brian was thinking of suicide, Roger was probably crying like hell too. Because they knew that is it Queen is over. Freddie, of course knew he was leaving. But he tried his best to stay around and though immense pain (shown in Headlong video). "No one could even recognize him" Jim Hutton. So every who worked with Freddie knew he was going and of course everyone was sad.
It was more hard to him to record Mother Love's "I long for peace before I die" line, I guess. Especially before few months of his death.
I think it would have been terribly upsetting for Brian to record the last verse of Mother Love.
On top of that, if you ever look at Queen getting their award for "Best Group of the 1980's" in 1989, when Brian says "We hope to perform more miracle's for you in 1990 and beyond", he seems to get choked a little bit.
Does anyone know where I can see this award show online?
The 1989 was uploaded a couple of days ago. Should be on page 2 or something.

I bet they were all really sad... It´s almost as if they were beginning to grieve before Freddie had even died... :-( They all knew that was going to be one of their last moments together as a group.
Everytime this subject comes up it brings tears to my eyes.
Between Freddie actually being in both physical and emotional pain...with his illness growing worse....
and Brian, Roger, and John being in emotional pain knowing the end was approaching for Freddie and seeing and feeling what Freddie was going through...
...but also knowing that in a weird way, it was the most significant and meaningful time for the 4 of them as they really cherished and appreciated one another as friends and colleagues and the creative energies they could bring forth in spite or despite all they were going through..
..to create and record this last poignant not only song and video, but final sentimental meaningful goodbye to one another and their heartfelt goodbye to Freddie and to Queen's fans.
Most of you on QZ know this is my favorite Queen song and video and as I have said before what also makes it so special..is that it was not just a piece of commercial commodity..or even another another work of art (both of which it was)...
..,this was as the saying goes NOT just art imitating life...this song..was REAL life..it was their thank you and farewell from Brian, Roger & John to Freddie, From Freddie to them, and from all 4...to us.
..and in actuality, a ''family'' portrait or snapshot of 4 lifelong friends and colleagues together in a bittersweet, happy and sad final moment together doing what they loved...making music.

it's strange but i still remember the first time i saw this video....it was mid December 1991. Brian and Roger had been talking on interview on TV about how freddie wanted to do something for AIDS after his death...then the interview cut away to the opening chords...and although i already knew the song so well, i wasn't even slightly prepared for what i saw next.....
my band, that i'd grown up with, coming to the end of their life as a fourpiece. their charismatic-genius-talisman lead singer - who had captivated me (several times)and millions of others live...was almost eradicated by an unrelenting and incurable illness....the band put on their best bib and tucker for the cameras and faced one final curtain together showing the world their love for each other and their loyalty....and Freddie (god fucking bless him and save him) stole the show one final time - with the quietest, most softly spoken but nonetheless powerful 'i still love you'
...and i couldn't believe it, there before my eyes - he was - GONE !!!! and i blarted - i really did sob my heart out....i'm not ashamed to say it...it really hurt - moreso than the news of his death three weeks earlier....because this ACTUALLY showed how bad his pain got,,,,yes i cried!!!
as freddie said in 1986 on the stage of wembley stadium. "well stay till together till we fucken well die." he was so so right. that video alone is testment of the love that the band had for each other and us. i bet when brian may sang too much love will kill you at the tribute concert he was thinking of freddie. when i was in highschool i played that video for my english. some people in the class had tears in there eyes not even knowing about freddie. i love this song and it brings tears in my eyes everytime i see the video.
