I went there when Freddie died and they was a vigel there for him, you might have seen it on the news where all the fans had candles.
Was very moving we all left tributes i left a Queen 7" picture cover with a message i wrote on it.
BTW its my Birthday on the 7th

Freddie was cremated but they say that the jar with his ashes in are buried under the cherry tree in the garden. Doesn't Jim Hutton also mention that in his book or is it just me? I THINK he writes in the book that he does not know where the ashes are but he believes that they are under the cherry tree... It is so weird that not even Jim Hutton knows! I think I would be so disappointed if I was not allowed to know where my boyfriend was buried!!

I cannot believe that some of you Londoners have never been to Garden Lodge!!! After all, it is probably the closest you will ever get to Freddie, now that he is dead, and some people say that he is buried in the garden there... Kinda creepy.
I've been a queen fan for 31 years, and seen them live five times before Freddie died.
i live about 120miles from london. i worked in westmister (cleland hse, page Street) - about 15 mins from garden lodge from Nov 91 - May 93 (commuting daily from Worcestershire to london).
I have to say that in all that time I never felt a need to obtain any kind of spiritual connection with a dead person. I have his music - that's enough for me!!!! what would invading some other person's (remember someone else lives thwere now)privacy achieve? nothing....
going to see what 'used to be' his house isn't going to make anything any clearer, it won't be spiritual and won't reveal to you the meaning of 'bohemian rhapsody'...so the only reason for going must be morbid curiosity....which I FIND creepy...
finally, he's not buried there....all AIDS victims are cremated. the whereabouts of his ashes are unknown - but the clever money would say lake geneva, montreux - so there's an expensive trip for yer!!!
Brenski, obviously I do not agree with you here. I went to Garden Lodge to see the house where Freddie used to live. I did not climb the walls around the house or anything else, I was just looking. So I definitely would not call my visit invading of somebody else's privacy. And I do not suffer from morbid curiosity because as I said, I was just looking at the house.
If somebody goes there and climb the walls or make graffiti all over the walls or anything like that - then I agree with you. That is sick! Especially now that Mary Austin has cleaned the walls!
BTW, I think it is different from person to person if you get some kind of a spiritual moment while you are there. So please, do not say that you do not get a spiritual moment while you are there! I really think some people do!

Thanks. My sentiments exactly. I just want to go there like I said to pay my respects and reflect on the wonderful memories, moments, and times of joy and creativity that Freddie enjoyed there and reflect on that. That's all. Maybe leave a flower or so.
