Does anyone else here have any guinea pigs? I just got two and they are the sweetest things. They love me and damnit, I love them.

I like gerbils much better. Guinea pigs are too large and painful, and their short tails are hard to hold onto.

When I was about 14, my little sister wanted to get some guinea pigs. I remember clearly the family driving to the mall pet shop and her picking them out. They were adorable looking and it ended up that we got two and one was to be mine.
My dad was very anti-animal and refused to let them into the passenger compartment of the car, so they rode home in the hot trunk with the lid closed.
Dad always kept a bottle of antifreeze in the trunk, and apparently it sprung a leak or the cap came off or something because when we got home and opened the trunk, the guinea pigs were coated in the stuff and it was all over the trunk.
Anyway, we gave them little baths and it seemed like they were alright but within a few days it was clear that something was terribly wrong. They both had grown considerribly larger and each had this little extra leg growing out of its stomach complete with very sharp claws. Sometime during that night the pigs got so large that the cage burst open and they got free, roaming the house and attacking each of us in turn, in our beds.. clawing, scraping, cutting us to pieces. We were all killed. I don't know what ever became of the pigs.

I saw the little piggies crawling in the dirt. The life of the little piggies is getting worse because there's always dirt to play around in. I also saw the bigger piggies in thier starched white shirts.
So there.
A friend of mine had guinea pigs once. Not sure what happened to them. Funnily enough when we went south once with another set of friends there was a lake. We went canoeing and there was a little (all of about 10 foot by 10 ft) island and there was a sign that said 'BEWARE OF THE GUINEA PIGS'. I just looked at my friend and we burst out laughing. Inevitably we fell out of the boat and died.

It kept telling me to listen to Hot Space - I resisted for ages but, in the end, it was either the hamster or my eardrums.....bye bye hamster.
