For me speaking as a musician, I would be thrilled to have someone like Paul Rodgers singing my songs after my death. You don't compose music to have it die with you. You compose with an ear toward something transcendent. You compose to reach people. You compose because you are compelled to. You compose for your own immortality. You don't compose with a thought that nobody can ever perform your songs.
I bet Freddie would be happy that, all these years after his death, people are thrilled to hear his songs performed by Paul Rodgers and that Paul Rodgers wants to sing those songs.
