Live at the Bowl...

The more I watch this DVD, the more I think Freddie was campy, ridiculously so, almost to the point of silliness.

He at times overdoes his gestures, when I think he should take the song more seriously and give a more serious effort. It looks a bit silly, and ridiculous for a 36 year old man to be prancing onstage like a hyper chimpanzee, almost like a circus act.

He should've been more serious, and gave the songs more respect.

Does anyone else feel that way?

I think there are times when Freddie & Co took a concert less serious than it demanded.

For example, in the Japan show of the DVD, did you guys notice that Freddie sang the lyrics of Teo Torriate from a piece of paper glued to the piano, as though he could not bother himself to memorize the lyrics??

I was like, WTF??? That is pathetic in my opinion.

Freddie was very animated and dramatic.He got into his songs. Thats what everyone loved about him.He said on the interview that he could not just sit there and sing he has to move around. He wants the audience to get the most out of the show.

tia makes a good point. queen songs are dramatic and theatrical and so was mr mercury. the frontman needs to react to the songs for example liam gallagher would look ridiculous prancing about like freddie

If you want serious stuff go to the church, you'll get your conservative fix there. Freddie was supposed to entertain not pontificate.

For me he wasn't ridiculous, for me Freddie did an excellent presentation. And of course, he was really sexy. Or haven't you see "fat bottomed girls" performance, he wasn't a chimpanzee, he was a sexy-hot guy living his own songs and giving the best performance ever.

Everytime i watch those concerts, i have to say that i love his moves more than ever. Just look at Live at Wembley "Hammer to fall" performance, and you'll see what i'm talking about. By the way don't forget "Fat Bottomed Girls" on Live at the Bowl.

it´s a great show, whole band is on a high note, and the fact that he could pull some of that stuff at that age is great in my opinion

and yess. i do agree that 'Fat Bottom Girls' really rocks the crowd at the bowl..awesome preformance!!! dont forget..'Sheer Heart Attack' when the whole band goes to near frenzy near the end..truly superb!!

Then watch any other boring ass band or artist where the lead singer just stands there with their thumb up their ass...there are plenty of them to choose from.

Give me a Queen or AC/DC any day of the week..
