i dont think the superdome was a terrible idea, but sticking all of those people into one building? couldnt they do anything better then that? i also heard the toilets stopped working for a while. was this true?

god, i wouldnt be able to bear leaving my pets alone while i seek shelter. theyre way to important to me. they would have to pry me off of them with a crowbar, strap me down, and drag me to the nearest shelter. keep in mind that they would have to deal with my kicking and screaming. 0_0....horrible...

my thoughts and prayers are always with the victims and their families and friends through devastating times. im donating anything as soon as possible. *hugs*

The superdome's basic needs...i.e.; power, water, restrooms, air-conditioning, etc. stopped working during the storm. The folks in there have had very little since early monday morning. I heard this morning that the evacuation efforts from the dome to Houston had been suspended due to someone firing at a military helicopter. Folks are storming the busses brought in to carry the refugee's out. They still aren't done getting the most frail out of there. New Orleans is decending fast into TOTAL anarchy.

oh god...shouldnt they practice for things like this? and even if they do, theyre obviously doing SOMETHING wrong. if only it was more organized...

on another note...Just saw a report that a number of famous, legendary musicians are missing...including Fats Domino and Irma Thomas.

I live in Maryland, and last night I saw we are sending tons of Maryland Nat'l Guard, Maryland Red Cross, The Governor's own Nurse Triage Unit, and, The USS Comfort, a Navy Ship from Maryland that was at Operation Desert Storm and 911 in Manhattan, that's based in Maryland that has something like 200 fully operational surgery operating rooms, with upwards of 200-300 surgeons, dosctors, nurses, another like 300 hospital beds, and another like 300 beds for hoemless people.

My heart goes out to everyone in Louisianna and Mississippi. This is one of the most devestating things I've ever seen. I surrvived the 4 hurricanes that hit FL back to back last year, and the damage we received from them was no where near the devestation of Katrina. It will be years before Louisianna is back to normal. Everyone pray for the people affected by this tragedy.

The first, ''A Concert For Hurricane Relief'' air 8:00 pm EST TONIGHT on the NBC, MSNBC, CNBC Networks starring New Orlean's & Louisiana musicians Harry Connick, Jr., Wynton Marsalis, etc. and Hollywood stars like Leonardo Dicaprio.

............Next Saturday September 10, 2005, the MTV/VH1 Networks will hold a Live 8 type 3 city BENEFIT concert in New York, Los Angeles, Nashville, to benefit victims of Katrina featuring:

........Green Day, Dave Matthews Band, Usher, Alicia Keys, and TONS MORE artists who are yet to be announced on MTV, VH1, CMT, MTV2, MTVU, VH1 Classics.

....Many other music stars like the Dave Matthews Band are adding special tour dates to benefit victims of Katrina.

....The BET Network is televising a benefit concert Friday 9/9/2005 starring Wynton Marsalis, Russell Simmons and Jay-Z.

..........The Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Labor Day Telethon will devote and donate funds from both its 1st 4 hours of broadcast and its last 4 hours of broadcast to victims of Katrina.

........ALL DONATIONS FROM EVERY CONCERT OR BENEFIT ABOVE WILL GO DIRECTLY TO THE AMERICAN RED CROSS DISASTER RELIEF FUND/EFFORT.............

sharon g., i think its a nice thought to donate money to the red cross, but, i would suggest donating to the salvation army instead

red cross, unlike the salvation army, puts all donations into one big fund that could go to any disaster

salvation army, on the other hand, can promise you that your fund will go to the hurricane if you wish it to be
