Wasn't yesterday the 8th anniversary of Princess Di's death as well as Dodi and Mr. Paul? I know the news has been hectic with the hurricane but RIP Di, Dodi, and Mr. Paul.

Really? That long, eh?
I was in a theatre at the time. The only time I've ever seen a film interrupted.

I think it happened about midnight in Paris so I think they are 5 hours ahead of me. I was at home getting ready to go out with friends I believe. I remember getting up about 4am to watch her funeral procession.
damn shame
I was on the phone with a friend I'd met online. He said to turn on the news.. it was a very sad time. I can't believe how fast time passes. 8 years just like that. I had just gotten online earlier that month for the first time on WebTV.
So I've been here in cyberspace, wasting away for 8 years.

Too bad for them and their families, but frankly, is this in any way more important than any other tragic demise?
No it's not in any way more important. Just a little more recognized since Di was a world figure.

agreed Melissa. But one important thing in all this Mother Teresa dies the same day (i believe) and does the world still mourn her every year on the anniversary of her death? NO
That's a very good point Brenski. Sadly, I'm afraid beauty outweighs good deeds. Not that either did more than the other. But there's also the fact that Diana died MUCH too young so it was more of a shock.
I share the same birthday as Mother Theresa! August 27th. I always think of her on our birthday.
Diana would probably still be alive today but for the Fayhed decision to change cars and drivers to avoid the press at the front door
she was a symbol, not just a person who died in a car crash...
Wow...I hadn't even thought about it. It must be a sign that there was nothing on the news about it...they must FINALLY be getting over it. Well, the women's magazines are still trying to find reasons to put her on the cover.
I was at my friend's place when I heard about it, we were in her room making knucklesacks out of material and rice when her mum burst into the room exclaiming, "Di's dead!" I assumed it was crap but then obviously I discovered it wasn't. My dad always says that the funeral was the best TV he's ever seen.

I got up, watched a bit of the news and then went to the seaside for the day.
