Anyone here who's favourite band is not Queen???

Lay off of Bono...he was in rock n' roll way before he started rallying in politics. I hate that so many people think he's less of a musician just because he voices his opinions. Music doesn't necessarily mean shutting up and just making music, and I for one am proud that he doesn't just sit back and let what's happening in the world pass him by just because he's rich enough to ignore other peoples' problems.

What Gets me is so many people who rag on Bono for being so involved with politics...while being rich...FORGET.......HELLO......about John Lennon!!!!

John Lennon was one of the most politically outspoken music artists in history and there in fact is I believe a dicumentary film that just came out about how he was on the USA's FBI watch list for years and how the USA kept denying him citexenship..just because he was against the Vietnam War and spoke out about it.....Yet..he was fabulously wealthy living in his multi-miliionaire hoem at the celebrity occupied ''Dakota'' in New York. and was a part of the celebrity jey-set scene.

.......Hello......SO was George Harrison..who staged The Concert For Bangladesh, the precursor to Live Aid to aid the victims of the Pakistani famine...and he was very vocal about politics...and he was FABULOUSLY WEALTHY.

As for artists being involved and outspoken about politics...I am 44 years old, and maybe I am showing my age....but you younger people and maybe some of you middle aged fans too...FORGET...

..... that the music of the 1960's, and the first half of the 1970's was ALL about musicians being vocal about politics and writing protest songs and staging protest marches...be it anti war, civil rights, women's rights, Watergate, world peace, etc etc.

...examples...Lennon, Harrison and...BOB DYLAN!!!!!!!!!Bob Marley, The Jefferson Airplane, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Neil Young on his own, The Byrds, Buffalo Springfield, The Band, Creedance Clearwater revival and especially their frontman/songwriter/singer John Fogerty, Peter/Paul/Mary, Roger Mcguinn, Joan Baez, Buffy St. Marie, Curtis Mayfield, Marvin Gaye,

....STEVIE WONDER!!!!!, Eric Clapton when he started covering Bob Marley's songs because of his own sentiments,

...........FOR MONTHS I have heard tons of people on this board complain about Bono, or Bob Geldof's involvement and outspokenness with politics, using their celebrity, and that they are rich so why..yada, yada.

............You all act like you FORGOT.......the HISTORY of the first 20 years of rock music and what it all was about......making a difference, standing up, making people aware through and via celebrity and music....

...and that Bono and Geldof...

...are the LAST of a dying breed.......when the entire 1960's and first half of the 70's nearly EVERY iconic rock, R&B, reggae, soul, whathave you artist USED music as a platform of meaning and message and all these artists rich or not...were HAPPY to be..not apathetic like today's self absorbed artists...but were actively involved in the front lines of politics....to TRY to make the world a better place.

...Did you FORGET the beginnings and history of rock, and other modern genres of music?????

Wow another Wildhearts fan. I didn't know much about them until a few years ago then they released Vanilla Radio! Since then I love their sound and their catch hooks. Now altogether,

Any as well as The Wildhearts, I like Guns n Roses, Metallica, Cindy Lauper (god I love her), Iron Maiden. I also like opera and classical music such as Bach, Handle, Beethoven, Mozart and Pavarotti
