Books, Movies & Songs that Made You Cry

I really don't cry a lot during movies/songs because I know half of it or more is usually fictional. And, since I know that, I usually have fun thinking of alternative endings or scenes. But anyhow:

Jack (that one with Robin Williams) made me cry..which is weird because I was VERY little when I first saw it in theaters.

And, I remember watching a documentary on the History Channel or something about two years ago on War Dogs..I cried during that. It was so sad to see how these dogs gave up their lives for their owners, and how the owners were still upset many years later remembering losing their close canine friends in such gory, painful ways. The old men who were interviewed on the show even started to cry when they talked about their furry partners. Those dogs were definately TRUE heroes. And, so were the troops who risked their lives (obviously).

How The Grinch Stole Christmas -every year since I first saw it at 5 years old and I am 44. When the Grinch's heart grows 3 sizes that day (Christmas Day), when the Grinch hears the Whos down in WhoVille singing...even though they had no material things..because they understood and felt the TRUE meaning of Christmas..and then the Grinch does too, and at the end...when the Grinch is eating Christmas dinner with all of WhoVille, and ''he, he himself, the Grich, carved the roast beast.''

Regarding Episode III...

...basically I'd accidentally read a post on a Star Wars site mean as a warning for parents taking their kids to see it, and I luckily only caught a couple of warning (Dooku's decapitation, Mace Windu getting killed etc) but the slaughtering of the Jedi's completely COMPLETELY wasn't something I was especting.

Like I say, it almost got too much.

For the common Star Wars geek it was well known that there was going to be a Jedi genocide, but what I wasn't particularly expecting was showing dead Younglings (kids in training to become Jedis).

I think it would have been too much if Lucas actually showed Anakin killing them, but he managed to cut the scene at the right moment. It was a very strong scene indeed, but despite of all that, I think it made the film better by reflecting its dark nature. Lucas was right by telling parents to leave the youngest ones at home this time.

Of the 6 Star Wars films I think I cried most at Return Of The Jedi at the end, when Luke saves his father, sees Vader/Anakin/His father for the first time without his mask, when the empire & emporer are destroyed and eevryone rejoices at the end....Leia and Han embrace, Luke sees the spirits of Anakin, Yoda and Obi Wan. I cry every time.

A lot of movies make me cry actually.. I'm such a wimp. Embarrassingly enough I went to see Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire and that made me cry..speaking of which so did the last Harry Potter book :S

Mother Love made me cry the first 2 times i heard it (which was actually just a few months ago since i have been boycotting the purchase of Made In HEaven cuz the idea was too sad for me to handle)

Elton John's song 'Blessed' about a new born child brought me to tears when I actually decided to pay attention to the lyrics. Of course, half the credit goes to Bernie Taupin.

When I was little I used to cry when we had to sing mother songs in kindergarten... (they were like ooooooh, motheeeeeeeeeer, why did you leave meeeee)
