I tried to tell my mom, she insists it's Freddie.... it sounds nothing like Freddie at all....I also get yelled at because all I listen to is Queen...she forced me to listen to Zeppelin...don't get me wrong, I like Zeppelin, but it's my music I should be able to listen to my favorite band...she's likes Queen yet now she hates them, she calls Freddie and Iranian Faggot to make me mad, does anyone else's parents do this? I can't stand it, she even made me give one of my copies of Greatest Hits 1 to my sister! I can't stand it anymore! She claims she started hating Queen in the 80s because they kept having a disco beat...wtf!....they did far more than disco beats, she won't even let me get the albums I want because she thinks I already own all their songs...she refuses to let me get Sheer Heart Attack before Jazz, I mean, this sucks... am I the only one with a parent like this...? What does anyone think I should do?

So your mum would let you blast something like ICP in spite of the heavy swearing and disrespect for women and the "I'm a total badass" attitude with no problem but Queen is too much??? Tell your mother that it's not your fault her taste in music is shitty and to stop taking it out on you. And as far as you having to give a copy of GHI to your sister... your sister should pony up that $11 and just buy the damn thing herself! It's your music, your passion, your right to listen to music. Go earn some spending money and buy every single album and blast it so loud that you can hear the bass from a block away.
Tell Mom that she should stop trying to relive her own life through her children. The fact that she has changed opinions regarding Queen's music since you've started listening to it indicates that she subconsciously thinks that if you listen to the same music she did, you'll make the same (perceived) mistakes she did. Oh, and if you really want to piss her off, you can educate her to the fact that Freddie was an Indian faggot, not an Iranian one. Hi! Could I ADOPT you? LOL My kids don't like Queen (except for a few songs) and make fun of me and harrass me about my obsession with them. (They tell ME to turn down my music when listening to Queen!) I wish I could share my love of Queen with them but they make fun of Freddie. I figure they are just ignorant and don't know any better. I don't understand your mom's attitude, however, especially when she used to like them.
From reading your profile, you seem like a person with a wide range of interests and diverse musical tastes. Your mom should be proud! Perhaps you could talk to her (when she is in a GOOD MOOD and not harassing you) and tell her how you feel (without accusing and getting angry) about her dictating to you what you should and should not listen to. Also, ask her what happened to change her feelings about Queen. (Geez, I feel like I'm coming off like Dear Abby or something!)
Seriously, I hope you can work this out with your mom and she can let go and let you decide for yourself what "good" music is. After all, it is all just personal taste. Good luck!
Really good advice guys, I appreciate it... as for why I need my 2 copies of Greatest Hits 1...I have a wall of rock memoribillia, and I did have one copy on my wall, it looked really neat, plus my sister dosen't even like Queen that much, she likes a few songs, half the songs on Greatest Hits 2 she hates, especially Friends will be Friends, and I don't see her need for my CD if all she listens to is Zeppelin (my mom's ecstatic about that), Aerosmith, and the Killers, she dosen't even have the CD in a case! It's just lying there...
