I'm not sure I agree with the notion that he doesn't change his sound. Or even the idea that you have to change to make the music timeless. Or even, interesting in that sense.
And since Brian's sound has never really changed live, it doesn't really matter. And of course, if you listen to Brian's last album of recorded work, you'll note that he does alter his sound from time to time.
