Must have been a slow news day at the NY Times.
lol, i think its's great that the newspaper had to scrounge for qoutes from a queen notice board!
brilliant
brilliant
kingmercury is not the only zoner quoted btw
mr nester is a zoner too
mr nester is a zoner too
Ha, ha- I love Nester's reply, brilliant! Have you guys seen Brian's reaction? LOVE IT!!!
I cant believe this is happening
and i cant believe brian heard what i`ve said
well, here`s my explanation
queen is my life
i listen to queen since 14 years ago
and i`m sure i will listen it for the rest of my life
i like the new live album (and ì posted about it some days ago), and im with brian and roger: i like the new tour and i want they to come to argentina, because i never saw them live
when i said "queen died in 1991", i mean that since 1991 they arent together anymore: freddie died (sadly) and john had retired
queen is still alive when i hear all their cds, when i see all the live concerts, and it always be alive in me
i apreciate that brian and roger are keeping the magic and the legacy of queen alive
and that makes new generations listen to queen
freddie and brian are my idols
in fact, i started to sing because of freedie, and i started to take guitar lessons because of bri, and i dont want to be misunderstood
brian said that all the things i said made a terrible damage to him and roger, ohh my god, that makes a hole in my soul
for me, they are music gods, and the last thing i want is to make hurt to they
welll, that`s what i have to say for today
bye ppl

I dunno man, I just wouldn't be asking him to personalize an autograph for you anytime soon... and this comment comming from a guy (Me) that sent Brian May a nasty email about the quote about not being a friend of his for asking for autographs and waiting to have a picture taken, so I cancelled my fan club membership, sold my entire collection and wrote mr. May a fairly rude email.. of course it was NEVER printed for the public so I guess I am safe.. lol

Relax. . . the idea that your little comment, yes. . even though it ended up in the friggin' New York Times, is not going to cause DAMAGE to one of the most successful groups ever in history or even to their upcoming tour of the States. Brian should know better than anybody not to believe every out-of-context quote he reads in the papers.

I wrote a few times to brian and aldought it wasn't all published on the site.... he always wrote be a nice, friendly & polite letter back, I did apologize once few years ago and did explanation for a letter who was writen with a bit dificulties, that could have been wrongly interpretate & he did send me a nice letter that my apologize wher taken and that he apresiated the fact that I apologized....
and why not making a protest action to that scumback paper....!!!!

You know what I find extra dumb about all this?
Why does Brian spend any of his free time worrying or responding to this dumb shit?
If Brian died in 1991, and Freddie, Roger & John (I presume John would still be touring if Freddie were here...I'm 90% sure) were touring with Eric Clapton filling in for Brian.
The Queen + Eric Clapton tour.
2 facts would come of this.
1) As long as Freddie was still in the band, you would never have such strong backlash of public opinion as you have with tour's name.
Honest to god....and really think about this.... as far as 95% of the listening & viewing public is concerned, if they saw/heard Freddie.... THEN IT WOULD BE GENERALLY ACCEPTED BY ALL...WITHOUT QUESTION...THAT IT WAS QUEEN.
As long as Freddie is in the picture, I feel most would not contest the name Queen being used.
As you all know the current situation...no Freddie, Queen name still in use...some fans don't care....some fans majorly pissed.
2nd) Do any of you think Freddie would be logging on to his website to respond to someone on "Queen chat" to defend his honor.
Hell no!
He would spend no time giving a shit about whiners or the press.
Thats one thing I haven't always liked about Roger or Brian.... its like their looking for a argument, or a debate. Are they running for prime minister??
Freddie kept the attention where it belonged...on stage.

Why should he apologize for his opinion? Brian should make rather an apology. This IS insulting when your star says about you: "With fans like this, who needs enemies". I know that Brian is over-sensible, and can't stand if someone doesn't think the way he does (only-child syndrome), but this is going too far. The clever one of Queen should use his brain before he makes such insulting and actually non-sense statements.
But I want to stress that it was just my opinion, and I have a right to have one. Even if others don't like it.

I guess the New York Times doesn't quote raving maniacs unless they're talking about politics.

Wow - you really sold your whole collection over THAT? That's hardcore. I assume since you're still here and talking about Queen that you got over it?

This is the unspoken truth of people like the poodle and his bitch. There are two kinds of people here - fans of the band and their work, in whatever permutation, and Freddie groupies. I have no doubt that if Brian, Roger or John had died in 1991 instead of Freddie, the remaining members would have waited a respectful couple of years and then hired a replacement and went right back to work as "Queen". Which, I'm sure, would have been fine with the necrophiliac members of the Cult of Fred because that's all they care about. Move on, people. He's dead.

Not really, I still enjoy Queens music, but I am no longer the hardcore fan I used to be, Brian's little comment really pissed me off to the point where it was no longer any fun for me to spend my hard earned money on someone that feels that way about fans, sure I know he may have been talking about certain fans, but after 25 years of using rent money to buy the latest release, or food money to get a rare item, I just say screw it, they are just items, items that I no longer care about. and just to let you know, I ALMOST gave the collection away, I feel bad because I had promised it to Chris here in Michigan, but my best friends daughter whom I got interested into Queen offered me $200.00 for the whole lot, including boots, official stuff and anything else, I just couldn't pass, I needed the money. and to this day I have no regrets. again, I enjoy their music, but I enjoy Hayseed Dixie a lot more, and they really appreciate their fans a lot more. PLUS, you can record their concerts, the band ENCOURAGE it. which just proves, Queen ARE in it for just the money, because if they weren't they would approve of the bootleg recordings, and not do a strip search before every concert.

I have to disagree. This may be under the wrong topic to express my opinion on this, but since it went off track anyway....
For the ump-teenth time - nobody is being 'replaced.' If Brian, Roger and Paul would write NEW material and then put it out under the 'Queen' name - that is the ONLY time that I will acknowledge or (gasp) unwillingly accept that Freddie was replaced! But - the material isn't new and they aren't billing themselves as just Queen, so Paul is not a replacement. Should Bri, Rog & Paul do something new - I seriously do not believe that they will continue to call themselves Queen - and I don't think they should.
Also...I'll catch some flack for this but I don't care - if it were Roger or John who passed away in 1991 - maybe they would be replaced and continue under the Queen name. But, like Freddie - I don't think Brian can be replaced either - not even by Clapton, or Jeff Beck, or Jimmy Page...
I'll say this - if Brian weren't involved in this 2005 resurrection of Queen - I wouldn't be going to the Meadowlands in a couple of weeks. Face it - there's no substitute for Brian May. Hear me out folks - Paul wouldn't have been my choice for this venture, but then again, I don't know who would be suitable, either - frankly, I never really gave it any thought. Without Freddie, I never thought I'd see another Queen concert ever. (I'm just glad that they are doing it.) But Queen without Brian - just forget it altogether - his sound can be duplicated to a certain extent - but there's much, much more to it...any of you guitarists out there (like me) get my drift? Skill, knowledge, sure - you need that...but then there's the orchestration, interpretation, and most important - the passion that Brian expresses - that CAN'T be replicated - I don't care how well one plays - Brian weaves his...personality(?) into his playing - I don't know how to describe it otherwise. To put it simply, Paul doesn't "try" to be like Freddie. Now, anyone sitting in for Brian, to capture that Queen sound that we've all grown to know and love - he/she'd (girls can rock, too!) would have to try as best to be a carbon copy of Brian. I'm sorry kids - as much as so many of you feel Queen without Freddie isn't possible - for me, Queen without Brian is just totally unacceptable.
