It is known that black makes people look thinner, that was probally just what he was trying to avoid, so he chose a nice light color.

Freddie looks very ill at the Brit Awards. I think we'd all worked it out on The Miracle videos but without the beard he looks very gaunt in the face. I can't even look at the limo photograph, because he looks so frail, and startled as well.A darker suit might have made him look a little better but I think the cat was too far out of the bag for much difference to be made. Talking of that, when did you as Queen fans first suspect something was wrong with him? For me, it was the I Want It All video- a big surprise at the time.
