I was watching the Bowl DVD and noticed that attendance seemed sparse--maybe less than 10,000.
Does anybody have any idea how many people attended the show?

no it wasn't sparse...but the official capacity of the place is much lower than it can comfortably take

i think about 40k were there

i was there...and i do remember that evn way up the front - there was loads of room

I was there as well, but I seem to remember that the audience reactions to the "Hot Space" songs where much "colder" than they appear on DVD. But, maby it's just me. I was terribly disappointed at the time... However, one can change. Although I rank "Hot Space" as Queen worst album, I kinda like it these days.

There must've been a lot more than 10 000 people, at least 30 000.

I would say 30,000 sounds about right. They didn't pack the place, but it wasn't like a ghost town.

But about the Hot Space tracks, they sounded better live than in the studio, so i think they accepted it a bit better than expected. I mean, Freddie said it best: "It's only a bloody record, people get so worked up about these things!"

yeah, i went to the gig and it was packed but it wasnt sold out by any stretch of the imagination. i think people are of the opinion that queen were always this huge super group that sold out everywhere they played, but that wasnt the case at all. 1986 was really the only tour when they were the hottest ticket in town. even in 1984 at the Birmingham NEC they didnt sell it out. live aid was the gig that propelled them to legendary status
